Growing up, the music from PS1 games and getting my first computer with internet access sparked my interest in Drum and Bass, Jungle, and eventually other electronic music. In high school, I would spend hours every night searching for music and connecting with people who shared similar interests, discovering what they enjoyed. I also remembered going to Borders and spend hours browsing their library. It was a great time. I still have my drum and bass CDs from back then. Roni Size - New Forms was a game changer for me.

I second the recommendation. We got rid of a Samsung washer for a Speed Queen. It does a better job cleaning the clothes for less of the time.

As an middle-aged man that loves to go to concerts, ear plugs are great and do not affect negatively the concert-going experience. Speakers are loud enough that you can feel the music and personally I get energized when people around me are enjoying the concert with me. Plus, your ears will thank you later :).

What others have likely mentioned, the biggest perk that I get from WFH is flexibility to do home duties during business hours. Working from home has given me the flexibility to manage my day to deal with personal errands along with your work responsibilities.

When coming to the office, all the home tasks are left for later, where my cognitive level is below ideal or where businesses are closed.

There is also child care, where when working from home, you can pick up your kids, where you are present for them.

Communities used to be on specialised forums and blogs.

Now these communities are on Discord, which is not the friendliest to look for archived knowledge. If Discord can solve the UX for knowledge share, I can see it as the product with the better chance of replacing Reddit.

There's something about "shared misery" that brings people together and builds a comrade.

It's been scientifically proven that this is the way to create strong bonds with people. It's why we are easier to get close with former classmates and co-workers.

My fitness group is the rec basketball league that I participate.

I would like to say first is that: we are all humans.

When you are passionate in the work you do, invest time and effort to completing work for someone to find flaws, it's hard to not be offended and take things personally.

But as humans, we are able to learn. You made a big step in being aware that you are taking criticism personally. From here, you need to learn to disassociate that what you contribute is not a byproduct of you as a person. It is a byproduct of the ask, a byproduct of your knowledge at that moment of when did your work.

To shift your perspective from immediately seeing feedback as a personal attack, practice gratitude. Be grateful that someone else took time from their busy day to look closely at your contribution and provide feedback. Sure, its their responsibility, but they invested their time to review the contribution and provide feedback that you did on your time. Sure, if the feedback is snarky, ask nicely to reword it for next time.

Third, take advantage of every opportunity as a learning opportunity. Maybe you will learn something, maybe you will be more aware of a specific type of feedback next time you are contributing, that you will try not to repeat the same error.

Unfortunately, it's what makes Pop Music, POPular. As long as it sells, it won't change. I remember Lady Gaga getting a lot of criticism early on in her career, then later, she showed how talented she is musically.

On a sidenote, we see it on the web, you can argue that most marketing websites look the same, it follows a formula that sells.

Deathloop: I was expecting another FPS, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the story and the characters.

If filming is done in public for the intent to be published, should there be a release form signed by any people that were filmed?

Anecdotally, many years ago I was at an outdoor park and they were filming a fitness reality show. The fitness coach was making the participant do random workouts throughout the park. In one of those random workouts, I was in the background of the filming. Immediately as I was out of frame, a production assistant provided a release form to authorize the use of my likeness in a broadcast.

I agree 100% with your statement. I see a job interviews as dating. It has to work both ways, you will be spending most of your day with them, you need to determine what you expect from them and what negative behaviors you are willing to compromise based on your needs.

I have ruminated about the same questions that OP has the past few weeks as I reflect on this year. What I realized and simplified, as a software developer is that I get paid to deliver a positive result when it's expected.

Like I mentioned, it's overly simplified, but looking at any responsibility that you may have, it ends on delivering. Delivering a feature, functionality, a product, a result. Then it's up to you to take it further.

Lazy developers don't really bother me, if you do a couple hours of high-quality work a week I'd have no complaint.

This has been my philosophy, as long as a developer is not making me do more work, I won't mind.

For me, the skills of listening before responding and processing a response in a timely manner were invaluable lessons learned taking improv classes.

The fact that you cannot write everything down forces you to think about what you are hearing and find the important part to write down. Now that you have found the important part the writing helps you remember it.

Definitely! You are processing and analyzing the information "on the fly", possibly writing a shorter blurb that captures the essence of the information.

Cooking is one of my favorite activities that I'm actually decent at. One "cooking sin" that I do is that I don't taste my food throughout cooking. The general feedback on my cooking has been positive.

When I try and cook new dishes, I do it by theme. The theme can be:

* Ingredients (eggs, poultry, grains, tomatoes)

* Courses (breakfast [eggs, pancakes from scratch], dinner, desserts [flan, custard]

* Execution (baking, sauté, oven)

* Cuisine (Mexican, Thai, French, Puertorican)

You will easily overlap the themes the more you cook, the themes are a starting point.

I agree with you. Good DJ mixes build up the energy. It does help me get my brain in a rhythm that enters into a flow state. BBC's Essential Mix do put some good mixes, as well as Diplo and Friends.

That is true, I haven't had the same success with the ratio when using different types of rice and pots. I achieve the desired texture that the people I cook for prefer :)

For rice, the rice:water ratio I follow is 1:1.25. I add a teaspoon of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.

For eggs, I'm going to try running the egg under warm water. One thing I've observed improvement in quality of eggs when mixing it is the material of the bowl (copper provides best results) and how much air you introduce when mixing the eggs.

Try making a meringue, it's fascinating how versatile eggs can be when put through different conditions.

Having a Work Journal. There are times that I wished I started one earlier. When I go back at my work journal, I'm amazed how much I have accomplished, even when its something insignificant.
