In my experience thats not the case - its more like 'It works, no-one touch it! We're spending our money on more visible things' (several years later):- "Whats that, its no longer going to be supported? Damn, now we have to upgrade"

Its useful for reading your email on those 'free' wifi networks that require you to give your name, address mothers maiden name, and credit card before getting http access.

The end of the Wow Beta was pretty fun; giant elementals (raid boss size) attacked the major cities, most people weren't beyond level 20 and I'd certainly seen nothing like it before. Of course we couldnt make a dent in them but it was a unique (at the time) experience, well done Blizzard.

Rubbish. If someone feels some way about something I say when I never intended any harm to them by it then its entirely their problem. Her comparison with the schoolyard bully is moot, because there presumably would have been intent towards her in that case.

"...we don't know how genomes hold on to experiences and then pass them along to our offspring. "

Err they don't. That's Lamarckism theory, and I wasn't aware there was even a shred of evidence towards it.

Sometimes when you don't know how something happens, its because it isn't actually happening

'Unix hippies' - indeed! I just had a flashback to the late eighties - the first MUD I became addicted to was in fact run by a long haired chap with very few teeth. Eventually met up with him at a computer fair that myself and a schoolfriend trekked into London for. I remember being accused ingame of using Macros to run straight to juicy loot after a reset, but no it was just my geeky 14yr old self remembering 40 or so N/S/E/W directions and typing ahead of the 75 baud connection. As if my C64 had macros! Happy Days

It is rather spooky at first, but once I got over that its excellent for blocking background office noise.

Now what would amuse me NO END would be if once, (and just once) after a few hours, it was coded to fade out and play a distinct voice along the lines of "You're going to die today". I'd love to do that to someone!
