Sure, but what about other costs. You can pick up a poloroid for about $50-75 on ebay. With this one, you will need to buy things like a 3D printer (and the necessary accessories, like filament), the rasperry pi, battery pack, printer, etc. Yes, the thermal paper is cheaper over all, but the cost will be a lot more up front, even if it work out over time. Don't get me wrong, this is a cool toy, but the title is definitely a bit off.

What I love about HN, is that its geek news. Is it possible to keep the Political BS off of here? Seriously, we get enough in the normal outlets, this is one of the places that I, for one, don't want to see it. If I want to hear about the BS from either side, I will turn on the TV.

I, for one, refuse to use snap. While I do admit It makes some things stupid easy to install, there are trade offs. First. The fact that it’s breaking things is bad. Second, for every snap install there is a ‘/loop/blah” entry in your did output. This is severely annoying and not needed IMHO. While breaking things is far worse, little annoyances have an effect. I will personally avoid snap and stick to installing things the way I always have.
I had ordered one of the other models early last year and it did take 2-3 months before I heard that it was shipping, and then it was another 2-3 weeks before it arrived. Their packaging was good enough to protect it, being in a plastic case. I have no issues with the one I have and, pending seeing other's experience with this new model, will definitely consider one of these. Be patient, that's all I can say.
I don't get why anyone is donating money to rebuild Notre Dame.
#1. The church has a plethoric abundance of money seeing as how it PAYS NO TAXES!!! #2. The timber needed to rebuild has been grown on the grounds of Versaille for over a century.
This rebuilding has been planned since the last time it was destroyed and had to be rebuilt, during the French Revolution. Ridiculous that people would throw away their money at something that was already planned for.
And to think, that post was 6 years ago.
I believe that because of all of the vulnerabilities in the Adobe Flash products, people should think of their computer's security first and give FedEx the preverbal virtual finger, and force them to recode their software to use html5 video instead. It is becoming the new standard and is (currently) safer than risking the vulnerabilities in Flash.

To be honest, I expected a bit more from the site, considering its name. It is good, don't get me wrong, covering a lot of file formats, but you have limited it to things on your computer. For me, if it were an all inclusive wiki, you should expand it to include things like financial file formats. Banks tend to use formats like ach and edi (for example). Those formats are extensive and can get quite complicated, but their file specs are published and available. The site is a great start, but I would love to see it expanded to include anything file format related. Even having the most obscure formats will make the site more appealing to people as a reference. Sort of 'the place to go' for file formatting. Just my .02.
@0xexplorer is absolutely correct with both of those suggestions. You need to know where you account is being logged in from (if someone is trying) and setting up 2-factor auth won't allow someone with just the password in. Change your account password before switching to 2-factor auth. When you do, be sure you first have a q-code reader and google authenticator on your phone. This way you can turn on their code generator as part of the process. Unless you like texts of course, but its up to you.
That is nice and all, but it will still cost you $1500 for the 'MicroMaster' credential and then another $33K for the rest of the year long program. Still no chump change by any stretch.

I agree with all of the others that the licensing on this product is wonky. In fact, the EULA is between the person who download it..... and a music industry company? (BigHit Management Ltd.) Um, no. I don't think so. Big Hit can keep its software. I will keep my options open only to software that is more in tune and in line with the FOSS belief.
I haven't used that one, but I do use "Video DownloadHelper", which is a firefox add-on. It works awesome, and have used it pretty much anywhere there is a video I want to download.

Instead of going to their download page, why not just install the extension from ${browser_name}'s extensions functionality? That way you're not dealing with the links on the developer's page.
Not that I don't trust your site, but I don't trust any site, no matter how reputable. There is too much malicious crap propagated through click ads, pop-ups, etc, for me to ever consider disabling my adblock extension. My recommendation is to stay away from any site recommending you disable your adblock software.
So what separates this from Trello (which is an amazing (and also free) project? I don't really see anything that sets it apart, right off.

I tend to use gists as a sort of snippets library (of sorts). I always have bits of useful code that I am going to need again at some time and having something like a gist is quite handy.
Not to go against you, but nothing about that person deserves celebration. I would rather you simply piss on his grave. Yes, the world is better for such an awful bigot to be gone, but don't celebrate it. Rather just let it go without any publicity. He doesn't deserve anything more.

How long before they use those tablets to enable "at the table ordering" and then reduce their wait staff accordingly, effectively increasing the unemployment rate in this country. Then..... other restaurants will more than likely follow if they see it work for Applebee's. Not that I don't think the idea is cool and interesting, but I am seeing the evil part of it.
Well, if & when people actually decide to stop developing on Windows and stick to something better like Linux, ActiveState's versions of the language will be obsolete and this won't be an issue. Python & Perl on Linux are free and not controlled by a proprietorially controlling corporation.

First, java is not a plus IMHO. Any time I have used anything java based, it's been quite slow. You also have to deal with all the typical java issues like memory and heap space, but that is another diacussion all together. NoSQL is just that, no SQL. If you want an SQL database, use one. The creators of the nosql db's did so for a reason, I don't see the need to back port it in. Sorry for the rant.
What sucks is that they are charging for it. When your talking about monitoring 100 servers, that's $1000/month. Currently I use Check_mk/OMD and it works beautifully. Oh, and its 100% free.
