We got into scuba diving about 3 years ago. Have something like 200 dives now logged across Southern California, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Planning on adding Indonesia to the list later this year. That wow factor you experience the first time you dive hasn't gone away after 200 dives and I don't think it'll go away after 2000. Probably the most life-affirming thing I've ever gotten into and can't recommend it enough.

Any docs for migrating an existing Nextjs project? No rush but would be great to have :)

also had the same issue. Figured after the first page it would probably show up but I scrolled multiple pages and still nothing.

Strength training gives meaning and purpose to every gym session for me personally. Look into Stronglifts 5x5 - it's 3 exercises a session and all you really need is a squat rack, so if you go to a proper gym they should always have one open. With proper form, nutrition and patience, you could go from squatting the bar to squatting 2 plates in a couple months. I've done some form of this on/off for around 7 years.

T3 stack - Typescript, TRPC and Tailwind (uses NextJS, Prisma, etc). This is the closest in the JS/TS world to something like Django and end-to-end typesafety can enable you to go blazingly fast. Copilot became pretty good at autogenerating my queries/mutations for me too which was nice.

As a FE developer I appreciate the updates from HN when a bigger company releases something as OSS. It's nice to know what approaches others are taking to solve similar problems.

"Show Brave Rewards icon in address bar" is the only setting you really need to disable. Every once in a while they launch a new feature related to crypto i.e. in the new tab page but generally they're pretty good at letting you opt out entirely.

If they won't use a password manager why would they use a crypto wallet? Adding public key cryptography to the mix almost guarantees the barrier to entry is higher.

Everyone agrees the legacy web auth is broken

Only web3 enthusiasts with a solution in search of a problem agree with this. Auth has been a solved problem for years. Use a password manager. No need for blockchain nonsense. Next.

In Toronto alone ~40% of new homes being built are being scooped up by investors that obviously have more cash on hand to pay above asking price. With interest rates so low and demand so high, why would they not be driving up the price? It works in their favor.

This implies the business is setting the price, which if so, sure I guess. But "creator economy" applications as one example also fall under "digital goods", which means a user is setting the price on a platform to provide a service for $X, the platform takes $Y cut, and then pays the user $X - $Y, but then Apple wants 30% of $X. It's absolutely insane because most platforms out there don't even charge a fee that high so in order to cover the Apple tax they either have to make $0 per transaction and also pay creators less, or just charge consumers $X + 30% up front.

I'm shocked those defending the Apple tax aren't considering the fact that businesses are just offloading that tax onto consumers making things artificially more expensive for iOS users. Even worse, when you do this you can't communicate why this is the case or tell people you can use the web for cheaper so users feel like you're just scamming them.

Over the last couple years I've worked at a F500 company with no TS and a startup which auto generated TS types (so i.e. 100% TS) and guess which company moved faster? The F500 you literally had to get on multiple meetings across multiple teams just to figure out what values something might be. It took months to onboard new engineers and the bus factor was insanely high.

Once you've worked in a codebase with consistent TS usage, it's very, very painful to go back to vanilla JS, so imo yes, TS is worth the investment.

Anyone figure out how to resolve this?: "An error occurred while installing the selected updates".

I got to 100% downloaded and it got stuck and now anytime I attempt to install it I get that error immediately.
