The Google drive unlimited policy has been predictably abused by some of the datahoarding and piracy communities. Those groups have been paranoid for[1] a[2] while[3] that this could and was likely to go away, including tracking changes in the way Google marketed this to users.

People with pirated movie collections took this risk more seriously than a guy whose livelihood appears to be inexorably linked with the policy.

CXL is a neat tech, but many innovative hardware systems go no where despite hundreds of millions of dollars of work and investment.

I have hopes. I can't help it. Cool shit is inspiring. I, however, am not holding my breath.

The topic here specifically is his love life. If a person I personally knew was accused of half of what Feynman has been, I'd have second thoughts about inviting them over for dinner.

If you're going to argue for a gradient of perspective while assessing the character of a person there are better examples than Feynman.

Politics in the US long ago transitioned away from reasoned arguments backed with data. The polarization of parties has created a gulf too wide to scaffold an argument across. The emotional impression is the point, but it's not for you. It's for the people who already prescribe to this dogma. Reading that gets them excited and engaged. Ready to go vote for their "tell it like it is" political party.

This is fun, but applications requiring L2 adjacency do it to limit latency/distance. Creating a L2 domain between here and the moon, what are you gonna use it for? Certainly not anything other than fun.

Looks like I was mistaken. We've replaced all the zwave bulbs with Sylvania Osram zigbee-based ones in our new place. Cheapo stuff, but they don't flicker when adjusting temperatures/brightness:

Smart things has been a bit of a mess lately with their automation related to zigbee. They've got a hotfix rolling out, but it's been a month or two of random lights turning on or refusing to turn off.

Great article, but this feels a bit like pseudo-intellectualism. Rodney is a brilliant guy, but like many brilliant people he has trouble articulating his thoughts. He's not an oracle, he's just a very creative person who is desperately passionate. Cherry picking the products of his creativity for some prophetic insight is a disservice to what he's accomplished.

That's an implied distinction between leaking NSA programs as they relate to the American public vs releasing international CIA related material.

Very convoluted though. Lessig is just really, really deep into the context. He's clearly been thinking of these questions for so long he lost perspective.
