I did all of my note-taking on paper in school. I felt like I had to to keep up with complex visualizations and concepts. The habit has carried with me.
I still keep those notebooks for reflection on what I studied. They're very valuable to me, even though I get teased for it. To me, it is like looking at a photograph of your younger brain.

Did you move from US? What is the process like?
I don't really care one way or the other, but my impression is the group offers a setting for like-minded (read 'higher-IQ') individuals to come talk about anything and not just the thing they are there for.
I got to play HL:Alyx recently and it felt sooo awesome to peek around corners. I definitely want more bodily interaction in VR as it grows.

Definitely exercise caution when parading around Iceland: nobody is going to stop you from walking yourself into something hot/dangerous.
Not been near a volcano, but Iceland also has a very sulphuric smell in general, like eggs almost. It is in everything like the air and the water.
I want to piggyback off this comment and also throw in HL:Alyx for VR Games. I was honestly blown away by how good VR felt, VALVe did an amazing job and I think/hope it sets the standards for all other VR Games.

I've had friends tell me NieR: Automata is one of the best 'artistic' games you can buy for PS4. Though the combat and dialogue is pretty, uhm, Square-Enix-ish, it is one of my favorite games/stories of all time.

As these trends sort of become more and more prevalent, I am so shocked at how David Foster Wallace had nailed this prediction in his book Infinite Jest.
Humans becoming more and more dependent on virtual face-to-face meetings and also relying on embellishment of their supposed appearance through the screen. It reminds me of how SciFi authors predicted technology, but with a complimentary commentary on human psychology.

The city is already (what I see) fairly priced compared to others. You might not be able to land that nice Monument Avenue mansion for cheap, but all of the surrounding neighborhoods have stuff going for ~$300K.

I really loved Physics growing up as a student. I was really good at it and enjoyed the problem-solving.
Finished the degree at university, but knew I wasn't married to the idea of doing it for the rest of my career/life. So I touch computers now (got a degree for that too). It pays more, plus it pays 'now'.
Please please please do not pursue a PhD or MSc in Physics on the sole expectation it will open a door to a career that you believe would otherwise be closed. You will not enjoy it.
