return "some vested equity"? I hope they return most of it, what a bad situation... the company now without one of its cofounders must be so different as to probably make it worth to found another one with just you (and the new CEO.)

The problem you are facing will be adjusted by the market (when you actually go try and get a new competent CEO.) That is, if you offer little equity you'll have no-one wanting to join and you will have to adjust. I imagine it should be a considerable portion.

But this is also not ideal, what about you being the CEO and CTO at the same time? Or, better, you being the CEO and hiring someone technically strong to do most of your "CTO" job (as head of technology)

chiefalchemist left an awesome comment; that's basically the gist. It's difficult to go cold-turkey every night, so the fact that I have a book to go read is very helpful and makes easy to switch off everything, plus the kindle has this amazing backlight which does not mess with the circadian rhythm, that is, I usually read for half an hour and can easily fall sleep.

no coffee, melatonin to go to sleep (2/3 hours before), l-theanine, magnesium, no light exposure at all 3hours before, kindle for reading, always waking up, no eating 2-3 hours before going to sleep.

but

you will always go back to your natural chronotype, so embrace it and try to arrange your life around it. Go to sleep when you are tired and that's it (don't get hooked on cheap entertainment)
