I'm so excited about this .. my team just started using django on our current project after our flask experiments fall on their face

iOS 7 As Defense 13 years ago

IMO after using iOS 7 on the iPhone and iPad I can say it's OK but it's nothing great though .. a few of their new APIs are cool too I guess -- honestly I was expecting more and better from apple considering how much they have running on the iOS game

Somewhat related but I've been canceling my subscriptions (Office365 in my case) to services I can't properly secure..

I'm also in the process of selling my surface pro and going back to a Linux laptop (OneNote 2013 sucks with touch on the Desktop for me .. and Microsoft's Windows8 version won't allow you to not use Skydrive)

Also, I pay Microsoft .. why won't they let me save my OneNote docs in a secure way using their Windows8 apps?

what are the implications .. you can't have a conversation with someone without thinking that your thoughts and opinions right now won't be tied and assigned to you forever ..

Imagine a highschool student who liked some band or political movement on facebook or talked about it on skype that is somehow tied to a imbalanced person who shot up a school or committed a crime? how could this effect his applications to state universities or grants or whatever? who knows...

do you trust the goverment that feels the need to spy on everyone behind their back to make a decent decision?

I've been keeping all of my work notes/journals/thoughts in OneNote which is synced and stored on Microsoft's servers ... who has access to those?

I don't want the bureaucracy to use my private thoughts, my private information or my private feelings to make decisions about me for whatever reason .. what happened to having rights and liberty?

tl;dr the implications are that you don't have the freedom to be yourself as long as this is going on

I'm a fan of the statement made at the end of this article .. which to me boils down to that

A mobile web presence is very important and shouldn't be ignored but if you're going to distribute something as a native app it's silly to build it entirely in a WebView

also it's wise to never forget that technology changes so fast neither of these current platforms will be the same in 2-3 years .. so really just pick something and go

Personally I will never work in an open plan office again if I can avoid it .. when I was interviewing for a new position a year or so ago I had to turndown two offers from interesting companies due to their seating arrangements.

I do not want to spend the majority of my working day five feet from someone else with no barrier having to deal with the distraction, noise, invasion of personal space that comes with that

to me it shows a lack of respect towards your employees

I've had a surface pro since launch -- and all I can say is that I can't imagine using different portable right now (before that I was using a x230).

once I got used to the form factor and what it was designed for it's changed how I compute in subtle ways.

Last night for example.. rather then going to my desk .. I watched some lectures on the couch while using the pen to take notes in one note .. then docked it to do some work.

that's just one example of many; but for me personally i feel like i'm doing more with my computer then I was before

though, I've usually docked my laptops when doing any serious work .. and my mobile work is usually restricted to coffee shops for only 3-4 hours at a time ..

battery life I guess could be better .. I usually only get 4hours or so off power when streaming movies off amazon but it's not really bad IMO, but of course I'd like it to be longer .. my main worry when it comes to the battery is that it's not user replaceable honestly

It could be worse, I do think that if people spent a bit more of their time thinking about they would like to change locally rather then nationally (which is also important) they would feel much less disenfranchised .. but that plays less into various ideological world views and such which people tend to fixate on

I feel like I'm one of the odd ones out where I enjoy my job at a large company that offers me pretty much everything I could want at the moment

I go home, relax, read, hangout with the family and work on really interesting open source & side projects .. I can't imagine how I could be much happier ..

IMO if your goal is to start a business start planning things out and take the risks you need to only you have to not just when you can .. which is very situational .. i wouldn't just go and quit your job if it's not immediately necessary on a whim due to advice from a random blog.

When some guy on the subway with a camera attached to his face starts staring at me .. my desire is going to be to rip them off his face and stomp on them.
