I know some people are afraid of change and competition, but I'm thrilled everytime someone shares their new language or library. I don't have to learn or use them all, but it's great to basically have unlimited research and approaches to skim on github/gitlab/etc.. for any language and any problem.

Not OP, and just opinion, but I've seen markedly different career and personality/friend/family success. They seem like talented happy people able to take on a wide variety of challenges and do well.

The friends with troubled upbringing often do find success in one area of life, but they seem unstable overall and often crash or stall in multiple other areas.

Assuming you don't need bare-level performance and Go is okay, I love how easy and approachable parallel code is with Go. Locks and channels each offer trade offs you can easily benchmark using the built in go test.

I've written so many different concurrent approaches to workers, pipelines, and multi-stage processing systems and found it always easy to reason through ways to limit the number of workers, prevent duplicate work, and implement backoffs.

The chair collapses; he is injured. He files for worker's compensation. His company paid no premiums in Illinois, no coverage. Will California cover an out of state injury?

This sounds so American: Insurance and litigation for every little thing.

If you were wealthier you would understand the importance of centralized power

Perhaps a little better, but anything the government does is always subpar

Whatever email server/system the government created would be so bad no one one would use it.

Yes, but I think people sometimes confuse the criteria for 'good reasoning' in the moment.

It's easier to paint a prophet as a crackpot if everyone else is putting time and energy into finding fault with them. You can vilify anyone, especially those that look different.

The sad thing is that most often, the actual villains trick everyone into thinking it's a different party.

When bad people rise to power, they often do so vilifying one or more other groups. The odds are not in our favor, collectively, we will be tricked as well.

Unfortunately, whatever body you create to watch the body you create that watches the body you create will have people in it that will be the target of lobbing.

You need to some how break through the selection process to appoint people of integrity and put enough safeguards in place to prevent conflicts of interest.

Unfortunately, I don't know of a single time this design worked out in the past and created a working entity.

Corruption is the standard because it's the easiest path. This is true in other arenas like plaintext vs all the work of adding encryption or screen time vs exercising.

All the laws in the world won't fix a mindset or mental attitude.

Took about 10 minutes to install and most of that was just waiting for the os to transfer to the phone. Really easy install guide. Works great. I wouldn't ask grandma to do it, but the technical crowd here probably isn't scared of running a couple cli commands.

I'm not a person with lots of free time that wants to update to the latest and greatest every year.

I now appreciate apple phones knowing I can upgrade when I want and not in 1 year, 9 months when Google/Samsung drop support for my phone.

Also, CalyxOS on Android provides that same concept of support for old pixels if you want to just keep using your phone as-is.

I'm really glad to have Rust and Go. I was worried the only way out of startups using scripting languages was Java or C++.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to these great languages! It's so nice to be able to simple things that are such an after-thought in other languages.

Great idea, there are so many games that would actually be played with even a basic co-op support like this. It's okay it's just an overlay with no shared-game state, still really fun!

tikTok collects data like a great many other companies, unfortunately they aren't just doing it sell more ads.

With a few days of interactions, you can very precisely logically profile a person enough to figure out how to socially engineer them. You also have enough interest and behavioral data to be able setup a blackmail scheme.

It is not hard to imagine how the close integration with the government allows the law enforcement to conduct very skilled operations using the psychological map that can be built about a person.

The CCP is way past knowing if you vote dem/rep or are a 21yr old female.

Well, "work" is a broad term. It can mean a paycheck, the gulag, or that todo you've been putting off because you want to finish the show. Lots more as well.

Some are meanings are constructs, but some are limitations of complete communication from a single English world.
