Wow, that is touching. I remember seeing the name "Jim Fox" when using Wordstar back when I was in school in India in 1997.

As a kid I thought it was a pseudonym. I did at some point wonder, what he went on to build. Your description of what he was going through, makes me hope that his memory will be well honored.

I've been having Indian Basmati rice cooked in a Zojirushi Micom rice cooker and it's been great. I feel like I have to add a little more water than the official measure to get it to be a little more softer. I've also added tempering i.e. Tadka - oil/ghee with cumin into the cooker after adding rice and water and the rice comes out fragrant and fluffy would recommend it.

There is also the auto-tab discard Extension. Which reportedly uses Native API better. I've seen that compared to other tab suspenders it does keep tabs sticky between sessions. However, I'm not a fan of it's auto-foreground on clicking a tab behavior. I think, The Great Suspender Extension on Chrome handles this better.

Show HN: Write a private diary using good old email 7 years ago

I use an App called Daylio [https://daylio.webflow.io/] as a personal diary and mood tracker.

It has a single notification per day which is directly actionable (Asks for your mood for the day).

Data is stored locally on the phone and can be backed up to your iCloud/Google Drive.

I have found this app to be more habit forming in terms of creating a micro-diary, rather than sitting down and jotting thoughts.

Agree I use org-mode to capture notes/TODOs.

For Links/Bookmarks I use Google bookmarks - https://www.google.com/bookmarks/ which surprisingly has not been killed and looks like might be left alone by Google. Other bookmarking services delicious.com & posterous etc all died in due time.

By using browser extensions and a 3rd party Mobile App. I am able sync/store all the links. Though I would love to be able to sync bookmarks to my org-mode notes. Looking at org-capture now to see if that could possibly work (https://github.com/alphapapa/org-protocol-capture-html)

If anyone is wondering what the list of shortcuts are -

  ^ is Ctrl    
  Alt is the alt/option key

  Alt+F/B - Forward/Backward Word
  ^P - Prev command
  ^N - Next command
  ^XX - Toggle between beginning of line & current  cursor positions
  Alt+F/B - Forward/Backward Word
  Alt+T/Esc+T  - Swap current word with prev
  ^L - Clear screen
  ^H/^D - Backspace / Forward Delete Character
  ^W - Delete/Cut word before cursor
  ^K - Delete/Cut till End of Line
  ^U - Delete/Cut Line Before cursor
  ^Y - Paste last cut
  Alt+U/L - UPPER/lower case word after cursor
  ^- - Undo
  ^Z - Stop the current process and send it to the background.
I don't know what these do - Alt R - ^C -
