So if Google doesn't do the right things _for the right reasons_ (based solely on your judgement), they're just as bad as anyone else to you?

Fair enough.

> No, but for Apple you don't need to do this because you only need the code if you're accessing their website so you have to have internet access. I don't think I ever use the Google Authenticator without internet access.

At work, I have no cell service but can still use my laptop. I don't want to use their wifi with my phone due to proxy server setup hassles. So I think it's still a valid use case.

I can count on one hand the number of crashes I've experienced with CM (both 10 and 10.1) over the past few months on my Galaxy S 3. Have you tried updating? I did have a few issues with a stable version that were fixed in newer nightlies. Plus, fact is, it's an understaffed volunteer project; you can't expect it to be perfect or base your opinion of all of Android on it.

Why do you find this more friendly than Google Authenticator? Just because it pushes rather than requiring the user to open an app? Can you still manually get a code, in case you lack network (& don't want to break out the backup code)?

What if you're actually logging in with the iDevice, does it just automatically allow it without asking?

Pretty sure that's a Netflix call; their Silverlight browser plugin doesn't have all the features of their Windows 8 app.

He probably meant SimCity 2000, which can still be played despite being nearly 20 years old... it would surely be on that list if it was more recent.

Has EA ever done so or indicated they will release such a no-DRM patch? I have a feeling they'll just say "too bad." I'd bet many of those games had significant single-player modes that are now inaccessible.

Valve at least has announced they have a patch ready if Steam should ever go offline.

The Metro APIs are all based on the old Win32 APIs & COM. Sure .NET is supported, but it's certainly not the dominant language nor was it a nice clean break as they could've done. Plus they've killed XNA and told people to switch their games from C# to C++ (especially on WP8).

Apple will want to rapidly patch this either way. They still see it as a large security flaw, even if it needs a physical connection, and they hate jailbreaking.
