Granted they are a different company, but this was a huge failure for Microsoft. Different devices have different strengths and weaknesses.

Microsoft has shown themselves to be very pro-open-source in the last 5+ years. Just look at things like VS Code. Microsoft is just the Nickelback of software, its cool to hate on them for no real reason (any more).

That is surely what is happening - a general (not always, I know!) rule in programming is to never delete anything, just mark it as deleted/deprecated/etc. and do not show it.

My University's (Minnesota) mascot is a gopher, but the physical mascot is a chipmunk/squirrel (debated) name Goldy Gopher - but it's definitely not a gopher. These rodents can be confusing!

"I was responsible for the majority of the Air Force's software programs" - as a former Computer Systems Officer in the US Air Force at a pretty high level operations center, this seems pretty hyperbolic, as no person is in this position. Maybe majority of the software for their area of work.

Why is this focused at Apple and not at smartphone operating systems in general? I am not sure what integration Windows phone has, but Google Hangouts could at least go across it's messenger system and SMS - might be more widely spread.

I am just about to finish my third Master's Degree, and have had 3 completely different experiences. Overall I have learned a lot, but I am just realizing how different experiences can be across the board. A paper like this is not going to be accurate much of the time.

Online MBA - simple, do the work and you get your degree, no thesis, no tests.

MS Computer Science at USF - very difficult, took me over 2 years, lots of difficult coursework, research, and a thesis defense. You could easily fail out of this program and it was incredibly stressful, but an amazing experience. My adviser was a massive help and I learned a lot (that I don't want to do research).

MS Software Engineering at U of MN (1 semester left) - Mixed, this program is very difficult and I am learning a lot. But, it is all group work (groups of 4) with occasional individual assignments and individual tests, no thesis. Though it has only happened once, I have had a completely useless, clueless group member that results in everyone else doing much more work. We complained to the professors to no avail. So I am incredibly frustrated that this person is going to get the same degree I am working my balls off for. This degree I truly think you pay your $9,500/semester and you will get a degree, I believe there is no way to fail out once you are in, this is very disheartening.

Have they gotten the experience correct? Serious question, I haven't seen them.

Am I alone in really enjoying my college experience? I loved going to sporting events and the ivy colored buildings. Say what you want, but my Fraternity years were amazing. I would be sad if my kids were not offered this experience. This just sounds so sterile and robotic to me. Maybe not replace, but possibly to supplement for those which want the traditional option.
