I could also be answering a phone call. I think browsing your phone is mostly considered rude by people, but answering a call would be more grey area. Depending on the nature of the meet up and the perceived urgency of the call (which would be hard to estimate for the rest of the people present).

I read parent's comments more as a counter argument to the suggestion more people would be vegetarian if they had to kill their own animals for food, not a moral justification based on "people used to do it".

i have a similar situation, used to game a lot of friends, lots of us have kids now, would like to game 3-4 times a year. Dont want to bother getting a full on game setup, and I have a macbook for daily use, so not very gaming friendly. Decent streaming setup would be perfect.

I have 3 skot polos too, their under shirts are great as well. Build quality is def something we try to look at, the kuyichi pants i have for instance feel way more robustly built than g-star pants for instance.

We're also looking at different ways to ship, especially the last mile, trying to use electric cargo bikes instead of vans, and bundling packages across other shops as well via izipack for instance.

edit: one thing about the quality we're running into is it's hard to get across online how different the hoodies we have (from Athrty for example) look from the hoodies you'd buy at H&M for instance. As soon as you have them in your hands you can tell the difference, but on pictures that's way less apparent.

We use Good On You for the bigger brands, they do audits based on a couple criteria. There are a bunch of different certificates some of which are a bit of a farce, seeing through the green washing can be pretty hard.

If you'd like to have a longer conversation about this, feel free to contact me at arjan [at] fairbee.com

I've also had the situation where the trailer would be for a tv show for older kids and it scared the crap out of my daughter (likely we don't let her watch on her own so we could shut it off). We are trying to limit her exposure screen in general, but commercials in particular, which is why we thought netflix was a good option...

Never heard of either, but just used both and the free version of Burp seems complete enough and is free. Charles is restricted when free ($50 license) but looks better.

edit: additionally, Burp uses a custom certificate instead of a default one for all Charles users

I've been using pimsleur as well, was able to find a pdf transcript to use alongside, which i found helpful. Also, anki (SRS flashcard system) works really well. I found a language coach at italki.com that sends me lists of words in a word doc and spoken into mp3, which i convert into flashcard using this method: http://www.zhtoolkit.com/posts/2011/05/creating-audio-flashc... (a lot of work the first time, about 5 minutes for 30 words the times after that).

I recently got a My Basis watch for this, works pretty well, and soon there should be more advanced sleep tracking as well. Really interesting to have an continuous heart-rate tracker, you can tell how much impact having a cold can have on your entire body for instance...
