Pure deregulation can lead to a bit of anarchy, but a more measured approach that ensures that the regulation doesn't act as a way to decrease supply and increase profits for the industry would make sense. Probably something for Lina Khan to look into.

I used to use Skype for this when I was traveling outside the US. I also imagine you can set up something simple with Twilio as well, IIRC they have a no-code configuration tool for this kind of thing (simple forwarding, text to email, etc.)

IME the bribes are often not asked directly but instead the people in the office throw up insurmountable obstacles so that you initiate the conversation of bribes. I don't know why they do this, maybe because it puts them in a better negotiating position?

Grocery stores do not just use the data internally but also sell their Point of Sale data to third parties that analyze it and then sell their analysis to anyone willing to pay for it (mostly that is CPG companies). Point is: it isn't necessarily a direct benefit to the end customer.

So, you are saying to brand yourself but what stops someone from copying your brand and marketing?

Also, not all business can be personalized solutions (would you want a custom car that no mechanic knows how to fix?), furthermore you lose economies of scale, which is a major reason why most companies are viable outside of tech.

It was big in Brazil and India. I saw the transition from Orkut to Facebook in India. I arrived in India with a Facebook account in 2005 and nobody was on Facebook, so I created an Orkut account. By 2008 Orkut was gone, Facebook was all everyone knew.
