But if you create a plugin that calls (via mv2 api?) a separate GPL-licensed JavaScript file to block all ads on the page, and then use your own closed-source code to add your own ads in step 2, is it really integrated or just two separate programs bundled together?
Is he correct? That you can't have GPL files in your project without all code adhering to it? I thought it has to be linked static. So just calling a GPLed js library likely wouldn't be enough. I think the law is muddy here and not clear at all, even if the code is directly bundled.

The problem with your thinking is that you assume that your eating habits don't effect your energy consumption. Why do non programmers know about open source if it doesn't concern them? They don't have any benefit from an source open application besides maybe theoretically better security audits. I would arue is because people expect that you can pick it up and change the code, so it can be forked and continued in the future and also because it's usually free.

The software got rewritten already and the model weights are probably not protecttable. Especially if you use the model weights to train your own model. Why would you be allowed to use copyrighted data to train your Models but not other Models?
I am surprised this is even allowed by Google and Apple. Tiktok also has something similar called Jump. I thought there is no chance to get an App approved that is basically an alternative web app store. I feel like this could be even more dangerous to Googles business model, than current AI. Imagine someone builds a search engine that has apps integrated like google flight or a calculator. But basically for every query a different app.

Interesting. That could be a huge disadvantage for the EU and it's companies that want to use AI and also often can't give their Data to third parties. But I am not sure a neural net is even considered a DB. Because when this was created they clearly had structured Information accessed by people in mind. There has to be some distinction otherwise I make a db that stores digits of PI in a file and if you publish part of it, that is considered substantial enough, you are infringing on my DB rights.

They can just slow down certain algorithm on gaming cards via firmware. I think they already did this for Crypto Mining on some Gaming cards.
