Flying is among the most dreadful activities I do. The whole thing is unsettling from the moment I pull up to the airport.

I'm not very political, but some of the random stuff I read online has triggers my contrarian nature. I often see popular statements that are factually incorrect, and have responded with citations... And been banned from subreddits for nothing more than providing citations.
The Internet, in many mainstream areas, has become something fascinating to me. My concern historically has been government censorship, but I've realized, perhaps later than most, the self censorship / Hall monitors of the internet are far more dangerous.
And this is true of right wing or left wing forums. It self regulates to a point where only approved ideas can be discussed in an approved way.
I don't see a way out.
Censorship is needed because the minority of loud people make it mandatory.
Censorship is too big of a job for people to get it right. And AI, frankly, is way to stupid.
I wish there was an answer.
Oddly this applies to all manner of forums. Not just politics. It's human nature, amplified.
I pay for kagi search, it has some features that do this very well. Well not exactly the same but you can focus your search better where ads are less of an issue

Anecdotally, I live in a slightly rural area close to a major city. Starlink is pretty slow.
Using the roaming feature and taking that dish on a road trip, let me tell you, starlink was amazingly fast.
The closer you are to nowhere the better it is.
Its really just the same problems cellular operators experience. They just need more sectors and higher density in crowded areas.
I used CC for the same reason as many. Speech audio is of poor quality, back in the old days in my CRT television it wasn't a problem. Speech was clear. Now for whatever reason it's too loud for comfort if I want to hear the words. My tv has speech clarity options but it is marginal at best.
I'm using a Roku streambar with a couple of wireless speakers. Still poo audio. And I'm not convinced a system of higher cost and quality would solve it.
Oddly, I believe this is probably most correct. Depends how far, but a collision with a celestial object or a big volcano could and will eventually end a lot of progress.

Opportunity, yes. Culturally I doubt it. In my city, as an example, Facebook only is dominated by businesses with no interest in technology, and it remains dominant in poor / economically depressed areas.
Facebook took off like email. In many respects, it's true value is network address book in my opinion. And focus should be on that, as opposed to building a social network.

Fascinating. I hadn't considered this. Humans like central authority, and if dictators and monarchs were fair there would be no democracy. Extrapolating on this thought, could a democratic blockchain work? I can't even fathom "how", but some sort of ability to elect an entity who votes on your behalf. With an opposition, etc...
I hope in my lifetime, I will get to see a new cancer treatment that works well. I've watched too many people die such painful deaths. The chemo is bad. The radiation is bad. When it decides to start causing pain and shutting down limbs and body functions. Terrible. Reversing that would be amazing.
Same, and I hold certain cultural biases too. Which is horrible, but also learned experience. Certain countries have stronger low level programmers, some cultures make for poor leadership traits, while others seem to create amazing UI/UX skills. Understanding there are no absolutes, and people are people, I just continue to observe some countries produce interesting niche skills.
Like in my home town, C# is king.
I started young with tech. Grinded my way through a tough systems career in my 20s. Spent every waking moment on call. Lucked out into a promotion, did some architecture and am now on a very senior role.
Here's some things I've learned: - age based promotions are real. Not intentionally, but people hire themselves. Most senior leaders are older. They don't trust somebody who doesn't share their world views. - my biggest regrets are when I was not a good person in life. As I age, what haunts me is the stuff I did that wronged people. That friend I lost. That girl I was meaner than I should have been. My failed marriage. Etc.
My advice.
Nobody really knows why the hell they are doing. We are all that teenager in some form. Just be honest. Reliable. Enthusiastic. And most importantly, it's a balance.. Say when you want a bigger role.
As a leader I can tell you when somebody says nothing and are good at their jobs, assumed happy. If somebody says, hey I'm thinking of my next step.. Any advice? Or I want to be X.. I'll do whatever I can to help. So will most people...IF you are deemed worth taking a chance on.
If you are ok with being an employee and not owning the company, learn devops and security. Max payoff

I think it would surprise you. A lot of people seem to holdover that opinion from pre-v2, but a lot is well done. Templates are totally doable, heck you can reference exported shell vars in the config directly.
Agreed. I used to play this game as a kid and I have fond memories of it. Recently found myself playing it on an emulator. Still fun. The music is so good.
Frameworks usually have some sort of email parser. Email parsing is non trivial. But I agree matching .*?@domain.com$ would probably work fine.
