I feel like everyone is very negative about something that hasn't happened yet. This gives a desktop environment to Canva users, where the revenue actually is. It's both a trojan horse and a usable product. Will everyone's worse fears come true? Maybe, maybe not. Mean time you have an excellent app, for free, and very few software products, free, open source, closed source, perpetual, subscription.... last "forever". They are often obsoleted by some new product, new workflow or just a new OS. Take it for what it is right now.

Bit late to this thread, but you mention their design defects which bother the shit out of me. It’s been this way a long time now, but I hate, absolutely HATE how they changed save as (cmd+shift+s) to duplicate document in some of their apps. And then you close the duplicated document because that is not what you wanted, and it asks you if you really want to delete it. Delete what? It does not exist on the file system! I know one might say that technically it does or something because of versioning or some shit… the way every other OS and non-Apple app works was not broken. And I dont know anyone who likes pasting in text formatting as a default. MS broke that too. Why would ya change the functionality of an existing keyboard shortcut?

It's why I never really bothered with Mac OS or iOS development. I don't have time to waste searching for answers. What an absolute PITA.

Point-by-point: phones can (should be able to) unlock from portrait for video. As I said, video is generally better in landscape, so it's not really about TVs, TVs are landscape because viewing video is better in landscape. Why anyone has to even argue this OBVIOUS point just demonstrates the militant ridiculousness of people that get on the defensive because they often (not always) put no thought into their video compositions. Vertical video look stupid, get over it.

Well you can do what ya like, but I, as a viewer do have the ability to turn my phone to landscape to view landscape videos. What are you shooting? Pile drivers in action?

Yes you are holding it wrong because the resulting video is clearly wrong if you view the video on a TV (same aspect ratio, other orientation), a computer or if you watch movies, or if you, well, see out your eyes. If you want to capture just about any action, it's going to look better in landscape, and that is why EVERYTHING until phones were put in the hands of plebs is shot in landscape.

Now, you could argue that we've gone more mobile, and newer social media formats expect portrait, but, that doesn't change that it's risen because people take videos and never consider, "hmmm, if I turn it around, I get a better picture and it looks more like a TV! Duurrr." Just because it's more popular doesn't mean it's not stupid AF.

I used to really like Adobe apps. But every year the apps get slower. Every year they change some part of the UI and sometimes don't provide an option to do it the 'legacy' way. Photoshop has changed keyboard shortcuts and reasoning behind their undo shortcuts; Indesign always centres on the selected object if you zoom out with the keyboard; Acrobat makes saving a step-by-step process... I could probably cite 20 better examples if I could be bothered.

And yet, YET, they flatly refuse to make their apps do proper mac full screen.

You've always been at risk of other road users, but that is well understood when you get in a car and drive somewhere.

What's new, and on top of that risk, and not well understood is the risk due to drivers mis-using a half-baked feature named "autopilot" as if it's actually an autopilot, because Musk insists that it works when it clearly does not always work.

There's two levels of risk, Tesla owners taking themselves out, and then there is innocent bystanders being taken out. It's pretty infuriating if you consider that we're all put at risk.

Goddamn, thanks for reminding me that my dim view of the general population didn't start with the introduction of facebook and discovering that the most most popular youtube videos/channels are.
