I've been working in corporate environments developing internal diagnostic tools for hardware and automated work flows for build automation. I have enjoyed working on software that interfaces with the hardware. In my free time I enjoy programming games for my kids in Javascript.

Unironically, the Apple TV is my favorite Apple device. It does exactly what it says it does, is inexpensive, and has a good interface. It just works.

While true, my prized possession as a kid was my GameBoy Light that was imported from Japan. Other people had regular GameBoy pockets or even colors, but I'd rather have that awesome backlight. My kids still use it to this day to play Zelda.

He is my favorite of the restoration channels. I don't believe anyone comes close to his attention to detail. I wish he put content out more frequently!

Interesting. I had the opposite outcome. I didn't like how Pixelmator reinvented the wheel as far as interface goes. I felt like Affinity Photo was a much better lateral transition from Photoshop for my needs. I bought both though mostly to support them. I'm glad we have options that aren't Adobe. I just can't abide the idea of licensing software in perpetuity.

Funny. I thought the shorter focal length made his face look more interesting and features look nicer whereas the 200mm lens made his face look like a big block with no definition and large neck. Crazy how subjective something like that can be!

I live in So California, and people around here always talk about black widows, and are always surprised to learn of the existence of brown widows.

I find this odd because I never see black widows around my house, but there are easily a dozen brown widows coming out at night around the base of the outside of my house. Pointy egg-sacks everywhere...

Oh, I'm sure. I've used the migration tool when going from one mac to another (Specifically from G4 to Intel iMac in 2006) which might clean some things out. Looking at the plists in my ~/Libray, I have some dated as far back as 2001. I also still have my MacOS 9 installed on my main hard disk :-P

My current OS actually stems back from the Public Beta that I ran on my G3. I've cloned the data from HDD to HDD/Computer to Computer and upgraded the OS every time, and it's currently on El Capitan (because my Mac Pro is no longer supported). I've never run into issues during an upgrade.

I'm shocked that anyone actually believes this in modern days, but it's a fun thing to fantasize about.

There is a fictional series about hollow earth called Pellucidar by Edgar Rice Burroughs that I enjoyed immensely. A fun read, not unlike Tarzan.

At one point I forked Chromium over the click-selects-all in the URL bar. In OS X, this was the only application that behaved that way (until Apple recently followed suit with Safari...). Now I just use FireFox because they give me the option to override the default. I edit URLs far more often than typing in new ones. If I am going to a new URL, I generally type command-l or open a new tab...

I found your post much more informative and interesting. The animations I think are detrimental since you can't do a side-by-side comparison.

I haven't found a free, native Mac CAD software that I like as much as Autodesk Inventor for Windows yet, but there are a number of free one available for the Mac.

I wouldn't know :) It must be a weird task to try to translate something as bizarre as names from one language to another. Harry isn't exactly a distinctive name. It's rather common, like the name John. I wonder, why not pick a traditional Greek name for the protagonist rather than trying to find something that seems similar to the English name?

This is amazing! Thank you! I always get so frustrated when I go to use Google Maps ever since the UI update. The floating drop-down search box infuriates me to no end.

How is it a great convention? I'm not trying to be contentious, however I am not sure how that is superior to underlining a link, which is a fairly ubiquitous convention. It seems overly cumbersome. It made me think though that perhaps a superscript would serve the same purpose and be less intrusive.

This reminds me of an old Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin discusses verbing words.

That's kind of an amazing aspect of English as a language; you can misuse words entirely, yet still convey a message. I wonder if this linguistic flexibility is due to the fact that our language is a mixture of so many other languages with disparate grammatical rules.

3 years ago is the last time I remember. It was on a 2.5 day camping trip. At the site we went to, there was no cell coverage without going down the mountain, so the cell phone was turned off, and I didn't bother bringing any other devices. It was nice.

It's hard to have that type of disconnected experience any other time than vacation since my job relies on using computers all day. Maybe one of these weekends I should switch off the phone...

I'm a little disappointed that its tethered... Then again, having little robots that run faster than any human be tethered is probably a good precaution just in case we ever achieve singularity.... ;)

I think the fact that cars don't use bipedal locomotion to achieve fast velocities is the point.

10.9.3 has been pretty rock solid for me on my Mac Pro, as has every OS I've had on it since Leopard (10.5), although I skipped right past 10.7 to 10.8.2.

My Air has had some weird won't-wake-up issues from time to time since 10.9.3 came out. Maybe its a laptop thing?

I honestly haven't seen a kernel panic in years though on any of my computers though. The last time I did it was because I had a slew of bad sectors on my HDD.

I'd love to see this map projected onto a current map (or even satellite imagery) to see what sort of accuracy they were able to achieve back then. It is quite a feat to gather all that information and compile it into a single (large) image!

Thank you for adding image search! That's about the only thing I really rely on Google for. Giving it its own dedicated full page rather than just a section would be very welcomed as well.

Two other things. Others have mentioned having the links always blue, not just when rolling over. I would like this as well to make it a little quicker/more evident where the physical link is.

Secondly, I like the link to see more results from whichever domain, however I am wondering if we can also have a "hide results from whatever domain" so we can hide useless spammy domains that may show up in our results. This is a huge problem on Google, though I haven't noticed it as badly on DDG.

This is weird. I've only been to MA once in my life, and it was about 2 months ago. I was travelling back to Boston on the I90 and went under that store. It was the weirdest looking building. It made an impression on me because it seemed like such a bizarre layout. I wanted to stop and check it out, but alas, I had no time.

My thoughts exactly. The axis labeling could have used some units, and for me, the colors were too similar to differentiate and pair up with the key at the bottom. The data seemed interesting, but these issues kept me from fully appreciating the data.
