I'm surprised it's that low to be honest. By their definition of any mental illness, it can be anything from severe schizophrenia to mild autism. The subset that would consider suicide is a small slice of that.

The inequality on dating apps is very high. Their Gini coefficients vary from 0.4 to 0.6 on most popular dating apps. Even if 100% of people were using dating apps, only the top percentiles of men would be satisfied because they can get way more short-term partners than they could without the apps.

Most of the IP to coarse location databases cost money and/or require backend work to setup. Totally reasonable to skip that money/effort for a fun project like this!

Maybe Trump's plan to make Canada part of the United States, just rename Canada to the "United States" in the GNIS database and they appear part of the same country (at least within the real "United States" borders, Google implements names based on a Geo fence for each country).

Until we get a breakdown of the salary distribution, the increased cap is meaningless. The cap could be 10M/year and 0% of managers would get it. An increase in the median pay would be meaningful.

Generally a good idea, but there are edge cases that need to be handled for this to work.

It can do joins. By default it combines the query into a single flatten struct but you have the option to write the query to embed entities in the join.

Generally agree but one cohort are folks on H1B visas that have their residency tied to their employment status with a particular company. It's transferable to a different company but requires getting an offer to another company large enough to do H1B sponsorships.

Golang is 14 years old, used by Google in production projects, and still in active development so it has a good track record. It's also open-source so worst case scenario it would get forked and community-maintained without Google backing. I wouldn't be concerned about Golang being deprecated.

I've personally invested some money in Intel because I'm bullish on their new fab sites approaching TSMC (and potential higher tensions in Taiwan), they are currently profitable, and I expect the trend to increase reliance on American-soil built fabs. Their P/E is also low relative to their peers.

Getting the world population assuming 1% devs: 834 / 0.01 = 83,400

The world population is actually around 8 billion so you might be off by about 10^6 or 6 orders of magnitude.

Not necessarily saying you're wrong about their valuation being overblown but your argument isn't a strong one.

If Google did this, it would 100% be framed as "Google offers demotions to dozens of employees" because salary is adjusted based on the cost of living in the area. So it's still bad press not to mention the employees have to uproot their lives to move if they were to accept (move countries, get legal permission to work there etc.).

For people that care about vendor lock-in (which granted doesn't seem to be many), Pixels are great. They are supported on just about every network and you can root it if you desire.

Glad you're enjoying Firefox but I'm afraid the multi account feature isn't exclusive. Chrome allows multiple Google accounts to be signed in and you can create new windows for each user that are color-coded.
