Sure your long term target group is everyone, but you need to start with one niche group. Your partner can get the ball rolling in user recruitment. You should have a basic site up with your key product proposition and collect emails. - He can speak to different groups of people (a class of students, an interest group etc) to get them onboard in one go. - He can start doing business development - find marketing partners, sponsors, distribution partners, etc.

It could be nothing to do with you. They are not looking at just you as a candidate, but several others at the same time. When interviewing, hiring managers look at a few factors including technical knowledge/competence, cultural fit and budget. You may fit all the requirements, but another candidate could have made a better overall impression.

It doesn't hurt to call the recruiter to get some feedback.

How are you doing your sales - one to one? It helps if you have some pilot customers who can give you some testimonials or referrals. You could offer the software for free for a charity or event (e.g. creating ID cards for volunteers).
