Paul Sharpe has been in the news for these kinds of announcements before.

His company, Odontis, failed to bring any new thing to market, and that was 10 years ago. Perhaps now there is a more mature product.

This about rural America sitting in a time bubble, isolated from the rest of the world? This is true.

Our dear values, the Aaron Sorkin kind of shows we love, are meaningless to a population that have always understood the city as a thing to visit one of these days, where multiculturalism is an impossible luxury, and where making do with tthe clothes from 5 years ago is necessary because the factory has been closed since that guy from NY bought it, dismantled it, and started importing the pieces from elsewhere.

They are in the past, because that's what they have, and none of this media we tout and eulogize means anything to them, isolated from the world and only receiving messages from the usual populists messengers.

This is not about rejection and going on about the process. Yes, it is somewhat a numbers game, but what leads to rejection?

For a person of color to even get to the interview process, you have to be lucky. Now that you have a PoC in the room with other people, thay same PoC has to prove beyond their subconcious biases and prejudices that they are indeed, better than anybody else in the world for that job, including the interviewers. BUT at the same time, that PoC has to deal with the bias and not be too good, lest they offend the people conducting the interview, and not get offended by the blatant racist, misogynist, xenophobic comments that are going to show up in that interview.

Some examples? "Do you know ho to read email?". "So you are an expert, and you proved solving all these technical problems and your resume, but how exactly can you prove that you are an expert?". "You have an accent". "Our clients want someody more like them, white". "You are too exotic for our group".

Yes, all of those have happened.

I can see how the candidate conversation with his family was, afterwards.

- Did they hire you? - No, mom, I bombed the psycho exam. - But the developers, the liked you? - Oh, yeah, the technical team was ecstatic with me. They even told me that I was their favorite candidate. -So what happened? Did they change their mind? - Oh no, mom. The HR person disagreed with them, so they accepted the judgment of the HR person and dropped me. - And the developers, your supposed team, stayed silent through all this? - Well, they asked HR if I could do the psycho exam once more. And that was that. - Son, you don’t want to work in a place where they keep quiet and silent on things that matter to them. You are better off anywhere else.
