I have been to one of these scam call centres. The workers there are just paid per 'lead'. They read off a script and the if the person at the other end agrees to part with the information, then they add the information to the form and get paid for it. This is standard call centre marketing and ton of legit businesses do it also. From an operators point of view it is hard to figure out if the scheme is a scam or not. Call centers are getting paid per 'lead' - irrespective of what the business makes out of it - legal or not.
All of these scamming companies are subcontracted to by Americans. The employees there are just poor people manning phone desks - as long as it is wihtin the law they are not doing anything wrong. The Americans who subcontract to them are the ones who are representing the culture of scamming.
All countries have a deep corruption problem. Do you have any data to suggest that India's problem is bigger than others ?
Purpose of a company is to create value in whatever way it has identified. Growth is a corollary of that purpose. Once the company has identified what value it provides, creating more of that value is the next logical step - hence the pursuit of growth.
America is beginning to sound a bit like China. The problem is that China had to roll over a Tiananmen to get here and even then it wasnt easy.
Now either the Democrats+Tech cabal decide to tilt all the way to make America another China, or they loose their hold completely.

This isnt accurate at all. Google/Facebook turned down the offers because at the time the offers came, they were 'feeling' good about their business. This feeling changes over time and had google not chanced on the business model of selling ads next to search results, they would have probably regretted not selling earliers.
No one at Google/Facebook knew that the companies would be as big as they became and most startups who say to an acquisition face failure exactly like the 99% of other startups, sooner or later.

Ridiculous meddling by the government. There are a zillion ways to circumvent this ruling - each of which are easier done by big guys rather than smaller startups. The only thing all this meddling ends up doing is making the space hard for startups to start in and increasing the cost of business.
IMO the biggest Indian startups are dramatically reducing the cost of urban living. The fact that India's cities are heavily disorganised counter intuitively helps in this.
The other sectors which is mostly overlooked but just getting started are military startups. IMO this should also scale dramatically over the next decade.
This number might be a record but my prediction is that it would rapidly climb higher over the next decade or so.
You are reading the article wrong - maybe because you are prejudiced to reading it wrong.
The article is part legend and part truth. The robots weren't anything like the robots of today. There were mostly likely simple machines shaped like a human and with some movements. The movements could be orchestrated, for example, by flowing water through a mill which moves a circular disk with knives attached to a human shaped platform.
A lot of the legends are exaggerations and narrative hyperbole which often results when information can also travel verbally. The bigger the exaggeration, the farther the information flows.

What India is facing is distribution issues and there are already broadly understood solutions to the problem.
Sleeper buses are huge in India. The railways are choked because they are run by the government. For overnight travels outside your city, sleeper buses are the most convenient options for the vast majority of the people - cheaper than flight, and more accesible/cleaner than the train.
There are multiple private operators which provide this service. Personally, I dont have too hard a time sleeping in one. It also offers more privacy than a typical sitting bus or if you are a couple you can book two beds.
There have been a couple of accidents though and people have died. Not too sure if the accident rate is more than normal sitting buses - sleeper buses arent perceived more 'risky' in India as compared to the siting ones.
Actually for India the real electric car has already arrived and it is already seeing widespread usage. It costs less than $2000 and goes around 80kms on a single charge. It looks like a narrower auto rickshaw, most of them are manufactured locally and can be see used widespread in tier-2 cities in north india.

India auto sector (mostly ICE based) is a bit in the doldrums. It seems to me that govt. just maybe wants to let it be in favor of a longer term move to electric.
They might make good servicing the scooter rental business which is booming in India.

India has a lot of people whose surname is Modi. Not all of them voted for Modi. And the urban migration didnt start after Modi - it has been happening for quite some time now.
I think urban areas of around 30-40mn are doable. We just need around 30 cities to take most of the population.
