From a company that spent decades harping on about taste, usability, human interface guidelines etc, it’s a train wreck. If Microsoft did it you’d just shrug your shoulders and carry on with life because good taste and usability was never a core promise.

Let’s be honest. It’s a mess targeting iOS. It’s like the old days with VB - first 80% done in no time, last 20% takes forever, requiring ever more elaborate hacks to get around stupid restrictions (eg try hiding the keyboard associated with a TextField when you tap on a Picker).

The Mincom EAM product (Ellipse) now sits with Hitachi and their technical mining products found their way to Datamine after ABB acquired Mincom, then divested the acquired assets a few years later. Not the original commenter, but it regularly fails to update emails unless it is restarted. Last 2 major iOS versions have had the same problem for me. That’s a fundamental functionality failure in my book.

100%. Designers in love with white space should not design UIs for engineers (or anyone who lives their professional life in Excel). Lots of margin, padding, drop shadows, ‘round-lg’ etc might look pretty, but when you can only fit two numbers on a page it doesn’t help.

What did it for me was a period of: “I see you are delivering an important presentation. Let me force install an update and reboot three times. Right now.” I’ve spent too long watching reboots to have Windows in my life for my limited time on the planet.

Ha - I’m on the other side of the grant application process and used an LLM to make a tool to describe the project, track milestones, sub-contractors, generate a costed project plan and all generate the other responses that need to be self-consistent in the grant application process.

Depends on how you have the conversations. If they are designed to uncover market-wide problems rather than single customer gripes, high value features will become obvious.
