Going for a walk has always been a good idea. All my life commuting involved either being stuck in gridlocked traffic; or being crammed onto packed trains for hours every day. Commute - work - Commute - sleep - repeat. When you commute you would rather stay at work late; than face the journey home. When you commute you would rather leave early than be stuck in traffic or stand on the train. That was commuting; it was a life sapping experience; the only chance at life was on your days off. If you are nostalgic for that; I doubt you ever really did it.
