well kind of yes I guess, protocols to transfer from your side to C14 platform is fully encrypted (SSH/FTPS ...) then it's encrypted by the C14 platform itself to the end-storage backends

it is expected to take a few hours to un-archive datas as for the bandwidth, we have well enough (we have about 1.5tb/s global external capacity at the moment with various global IXes and many tier1 transits), the C14 platform network itself is designed to scale very easily (10g/40g unit base connections)

Well, the shelter is still actually quite higher in Paris than the Seine (and quite far from it too), floods are not a concern at all in the area of this datacenter.

Regarding the LTO format, well LTO-10 seems to exist from what Google tells me (but I am no expert there to be honest ;)

As for the Secret Defense certification, this is ongoing, and, as you stated, we are part of a larger group which already have lots of relation with institutions like ANSSI but we (Online) have also been working with them to be certified in the coming months, of course this is a long and tedious process (as every certification is sic), but we are working on it every day and we see no reason we could not get to the end of it, we have a complete team of guys working on completing all the certifications displayed on the website and we are working with all our teams to get things done right for this.

The whole C14 infrastructure itself has been carefully designed from the beginning with people knowing all the certifications requirements to make sure nothing could get in the way to pass the certifications for it.

nope, our network (Online.net/Scaleway) is AS12876, Free/Iliad is AS12322 neither of them reannounce the other AS to the internet, they are both independant and separated

every internal links (between blades, chassis and backbone) are x*10gb/s :) server to switch is 1gb/s dedicated

of course we don't deploy a network accounting for every machine at 200mb/s flat 24/24, this would just be throwing money away. The reality is that most users won't be using these 200mb/s constantly, every customer have different traffic pattern usages. We (online.net) have a long history in dedicated servers (yes we have a >1tb/s global network footprint), we known how to scale the network the proper way. It is carefully monitored, when upgrades are needed, we do upgrade (for example you can check on status.online.net network section, you will see that we upgrade when it is needed, we have quite a few ongoing) the same applies to scaleway, we can upgrade network uplinks if needed and we do monitor that closely Note that only uplinks to the backbone are "shared", each 1gb/s port of the servers really are dedicated Hope this clarifies the design :)

yes, first scaleway's platforms are in Paris suburbs in our own datacenters (see http://iliad-datacenter.fr), more platforms are expected (most likely outside of France)

well being the "noc", I pretty much know about it, so, point by point : - first our policy is here : http://as12876.net/, where do you see "paid peering" ? - diversified transit : we've got 4 tier 1 transit, is not that enough "diversified" ? I hardly see what we could do better there ... - peering: we are also available on the 2 main French IX ! you just need to drop a mail to get our routes on them (how much costs a mail these days ?) we are also doing free PNI with those having enough datas to send/receive

we are also adding a new IX soon (order was sent yesterday) which will improve our peering towards Europe
