They need to bring about exposure and awareness. Although I use it obviously daily in work and in life; I have never even thought of nor been propositioned to donate. I had no idea that it wasn't being supported by a large company. Call me naive, but they need awareness.

Regardless of driving factors (you state religion, politics) the end result is someone that advocated for warrantless taps, torture and war. It does not come down to anything other than "should a person like this have access or even advice bearing responsibilities on my data?". You're way off point here bud.

So as a vocal, technically proficient and wealthy segment; we are now basically a lobby group. Minus third party funding, hidden agendas and three piece suits. I love this. I think that using our significant influence to form an opinion followed by digital exertion of will is simply of mirror of formal politics. Game on.

Ever since bulking up, I eat ridiculously healthy. The amount of time and money that it takes to do this is insane. I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time. The fact that (as mentioned in comments) the space needed for this versus a full kitchen/pantry/appliances etc is nothing. Game on.

Interesting points all around. As someone working as a remote consultant; rarely if ever meeting the clients in-person: I dig this. It's interesting this culture culture where the masses have these obnoxious, noisy, single room shared workspaces where they invite employees to "collaborate". Working on-site as a requirement simply has to go.

Definitely try consulting. I've always been a consultant and get bored incredibly easily when programming for money. Regardless of how interesting a project is; we are still doing this for money. Benefit of consulting is that when the term ends be it 4 weeks or 4 months, onwards.

This is great advice. Companies have tried to sell me on working on-site, and I have likewise tried to sell on-site only companies on remote work - but they have their mindset. From my experience; they ever get it and understand the enhanced nature of remote work, or they have that old-school (I'm old but hey) mentality: "If you aren't here, you aren't working" and cannot be swayed.

I agree. As a remote worked that has often entertained thoughts of working on-site, and seeing how ridiculous/unproductive/child-factory-style working on-site is; do not take a pay-cut. You can sling your added value by increased productivity, money saved on office furniture/space/food/etc. Enjoy your life, and work off-site.

Fantastic points, I've been thinking about these recently as someone close to mid-thirties. I've been learning hardware development and low level hardware software design over the past year as I saw myself either needing management, a new industry or ... death. I find it strange and almost awkward to work on projects recently with cocky 21 year old versions of myself.

Yes, must we all have the same interests and be represented in all fields in a proportionate split? This presumed sexism is something that I have never seen in person, nor heard of from female colleagues/friends. If there are groups of women that need to view others of their gender succeeding to be sufficiently influenced, then they need to find another field; versus being pushed and coddled into tech.
