IE7 seemingly handles it as well.
Whatever it is you're missing I'm missing too. There seems to be a massive lack of value-add considering what's already out there.

I haven't experienced any issues using the YUI css stuff; although I haven't tried to do anything beyond the common use cases. However, I think it's worth using if only to leverage the cross browser testing they've done.

I'm just finishing up a course on the "Philosophy of Mind" and I can not agree more.
I've been using gandi.net for roughly a year and haven't had any trouble. They don't offer bargain prices, but they're not the most expensive either.

You've already spent too much time worrying about this. Disable comments or just let him fade away (i.e. discontinue acknowledgment of his posts). If his pay off disappears so will he.

Is it feasible for you to start on the server and wait until it presents a noticeable performance problem(if ever) before going client side? This would be my initial inclination.

Thanks for bringing attention to this. I just started listening to one of the shows; aside from the interesting content it's also really well produced.
