I completely understand this point and I think it is very valid. However, part of what makes Germany German is having a socially oriented economy. For example, having a pension system based on solidarity, without which a German custom like having a beer at the local pub could become difficult if you don't have a social net to protect you in your old age.

Now the question is: can this work without immigrants? If Germany's population shrinks, you can also kiss the culture goodbye.

Don't you feel handicapped having to use a computer to express basic distances? In the metric system, you have to have some sort of low IQ not to be able to convert from meters to kilomethers on the fly. Hours to seconds is trickier, and would be much improved by decimal notation.

Most humans change their minds, and presidents are not an exception. But they also consitute an special case, they were voted based on their promises (ideally) and if you go back on your word (or make things worse as I think is the case) there should be consequences. Or at least people shouldn't sit idle while being lied at.
