Way too many developers are shocked to learn that Postgres has an existing Pub/Sub system using LISTEN and NOTIFY. Kind of makes some people rethink their stack.

I wonder if VR gambling machines might provide a better gambling experience for gamblers while also preventing places from filling up with junky and bulky machines, and probably allow for more players too within the same amount of space.

WeWork’s customers are also maintaining their own curated narrative. Many of them don’t actually care about ideology, they just want a hip co-working space where they can drink beer and socialize with other startups and “crush it” everyday.

It’s only fitting that the owner would also be full of shit.

As you get older, and your time becomes short, you're not going to want to retire to some completely foreign place you've never lived in. You will want to be close to people that matter to you, and enjoy the comfort of familiar things. Exploring new things becomes less appealing as you age. Exploration is for the youth.

Part of the charm about the early days of the internet for me was that I was a child and I had child-like logic about how things worked.

My view of the internet was very skeuomorphic. Websites were like "places" and by riding the web-rings I felt like I was surfing through cyberspace. When I would come across new information I would store it in my bookmarks which I thought of as a sort of inventory. If I came across a small tribe on some random internet forum somewhere I might share some of my best links with them to win them over. If I found a guest book I would sign it as a way of planting my flag.

I viewed anyone who actually "owned" a website to be something like a God, a MASTER of the web. I also viewed hackers as very dangerous people, where if they wanted to, they could blow up my computer in my face.

Maybe the advice should be to never express a feeling to someone who will shame you for it. At least then you know it is possible.
