Are there any comparisons between this and other style guides from the likes of IBM, DEC, Sun, Apple (Early MacOS), Microsoft, etc?

All of these had in-house printshops, so would have had some style guides even if just to provide consistency for internal use.

The Unreal Engine 5 demo, "The Matrix Awakens", is a download of more than a terabyte. That's before decompression.

The PS5 and Xbox Series S/X both had disks that were incapable of holding a terabyte at the launch of The Matrix Awakens. Not sure where you are getting that info from, but both the X S/X and PS5 were about 30GB in size on disk, and the later packaged PC release is less than 20GB.

The full PC development system might total a TB with all Unreal Engine, Metahumans, City Sample packs, Matrix Awakens code and assets (audio, mocap, etc) but even then the consumer download will be around the 20-30GB size as noted above.

I've often wondered if there is a problem with 'handedness', or more specifically 'footedness' whereby my brain is expecting the motion to start off with my right foot moving forwards first, but the game model goes left foot first. Mixed with head bobbing as well this throws off the brain's balancing model, as everything is "opposite". Certain games I have immense problems within 15 minutes playing, such that I feel drenched in cold sweat and nauseous, others I can play for hours or more without a problem, even if they are the same type of games. For instance Quake nope, Unreal tournament fine. Rainbow Six Siege fine, CoD not a chance, though Battlefield is fine. Maybe there needs to be something in games like the goofy test that snowboarders use to decide which foot forward for orientation, but more developed for motion sickness?

Much comedy was born of the "bathe wearing your jeans" and lying on the bed trying to get tight jeans over the thighs, especially during the late 80s. Then came leggings and lycra woven into jeans that now allow slipping tight jeans on without too much fuss.

Microsoft Research had papers on speaker arrays that allowed speaker focus and noise cancelling a couple of decades ago. I think the technology eventually ended up in the Kinect.

I think Cisco had something similar in their large screen meeting room video conferencing systems that could do positional audio tracking of multiple people. Could be wrong, but I think that was at least 10 years or so ago, if not more.

The mice were the mechanism by which the hyper-intelligent, pan-dimensional beings observed their experiment. The experiment being "what is the Ultimate Question?" by running a 10 million year simulation.

Hugh Jeffrey's video[1] on this block demonstrates the phones might be blocked, though it seems to vary depending on phone, and which telco's SIM. Often it can block one SIM from working, whilst a similar SIM will work in slot 2. or vice versa. Or they are both blocked after rebooting. Or maybe not.

at the time of writing the above video is listed in the OP article near the beginning. I believe Hugh references James' work in this and other videos covering the topic.

Reboot has been posted to youtube[1] and twitch according to the notes on that YT page.

In a reddit post on the above[2], I came across information that there is an 8-part documentary[3] on Reboot coming out from September 24th, along with a remaster of the series soon.[4]

The Matrix Awakens demo had some of the assets released to the Unreal Engine marketplace as separate packs, [1]the map, [2]buildings, crowds, and vehicles.

The matrixcity map is different, but is somewhat similar to that of the map in Matrix Awakens. You can see from the design breakdown on [3] this page by a technical lead on the Matrix Awakens project.

edit. If you look further into the [4]github codebase, under the MatrixPlugin section it explicitly states that they used the city-sample project.

Wait until you see the speedruns; nefrums and wargerr are currently 100% achievements in 6hrs and 5hrs27 respectively (see speedruns.com/factorio #100) Launching a rocket is down to about 90 mins without using imported blueprints.

Runtastic had apps that used to do this, where you held the phone and it counted the reps, push-ups, sit-ups etc. There were apps for each activity, which gave you reps, a count, and a timer, along with cooldown, with voice prompts.

Then Adidas bought them out and closed the individual apps and released a replacement for the main Runtastic app.

There were numerous threads on reddit asking for similar replacements, and I don't think there has been one. So I gave up looking.

hu hum...digs out "Managing UUCP and Usenet" by Tim O'Reilly and Grace Todino, revised 1994.

p293 " ! Should only be used when sending via UUCP. This should be the only special character in the address (called a path). The path indicates each site through which mail will be routed, starting at the left and going towards the right. Mixing ! with @ is not considered good. That is, use:

uunet!ucbvax.berkeley.edu.edu!smith

not:

uunet!smith@ucbvax.berkeley.edu.edu"

In other words because UUCP was dialup and long distance expensive, email was routed through specific known hosts, which is why sometimes people ended up with long bangpathed addresses.
