Yahoo hasn't done much justice to their past buyouts. I feel like this going to be a waste. Yahoo isn't doing much for their existing products. They should really focus on what they have. No doubt the apps and all have been updated but desktop UI still remains same. No consistency in UI across different products. The new ymail still isn't that great. Another thing is why can't yahoo come out with own such product - they do have some brilliant engineers.

$1 billion for this app ? Wonder why fb is buying it. FB can build it on their own. Last year at a hackathon me and my friends made a similar app in 2 days. The feedback we got from people and judges made us to drop the idea to move forward with it.

Even if 5% people(say 5000 people) complete the course, whats wrong in that ? 5000 is still a big number. Many Prof's wouldn't have taught that many students all their life. I have myself completed 7 courses from edX,udacity and coursera. Each of these have a different approach. Udacity for beginers while edX and coursera have some advance courses and I found these courses a great supplement to my course work at my school.

Yes , you can do it. As other people here mentioned degree has brownie points. But you should know about certain CS concepts like Algorithms, data structures ,databases and networks and some maths. I think all this can be done by self learning. Plenty of resources like OCW,edx or coursera available for videos lectures. Best of luck buddy.
