On related note there is exiftool which tries to understand all those different formats
And it has it's own forums with tens of thousands of posts!
You do not sound very genuine. It does not say it is multi-entry fee enywhere. For tourists very few countries ask more except visa fee (and many do not require visa at all). For UK this fee is only 16GBP for 2 years and not 1200 USD:

What happened to wikipedia in 2024?
I live with firefox mobile engine for webview without any issue
You are correct but please read: https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html#comments
I have similar story. Recently facebook forced me to enable 2-factor auth but adding SMS did not work for me for a whole week and I just deleted the app. Later I opened facebook from mobile browser and added SMS as 2nd factor and now I have opened Facebook from mobile browser only once in more than a week and I don't miss it much. It was the only "social" network I used besides reddit and hacker news
That's just wrong. Telegram is trusted by both Ukraine and Russia. That tells a lot. Also I am living near Russian border and remember well how Durov left Russia and I am quite sure he is not puppet of Putin...
I always ask people to give example of real world SPAs where JS is "used well" and nobody could give me an example
As an example, 80% of third-party content I receive on Facebook is soft Russian propoganda:
Some examples:
* general auto blog which writes about how 80% of details of some cars are now Russian made
* some general English language construction blog tells about how cool is Russian made Crimean bridge
* some English language aviation page showing how advanced some Soviet planes are
* some Italian page showing how dirty is metro in Italy but how clean it is in Saint Petersburg
* some randome culture page shows cool Russian brutalist architecture
There is so much content like this trying to mascerade as non-political but with clear agenda.
There are no methods to report such pages to Facebook moderation
We used .dev before google registered it so we migrated to another paid domain so we don't need to pay huge amount per year to google
At my work we have similar issues with all big companies we have some kind of integration. Apple, Google, Facebook... Even Huawei app store decided to copy our apps without asking us first and now we have issues managing them. Too much time is spent to appease those companies and for me it starts to feel like some kind of conspiracy theory...
That's why we offloaded phone validation to Telegram - it is too costly to send SMS in other countries than our home market and spammers are finding ways to get phone numbers for free from different VoIP providers. We need to implement complicated SMS sending limit logic to avoid abuse
Verifying phone number is one of the last things which is still effective when fighting against bot registrations. Alternative is to ask money for registration.
Here is idea for hacker news crowd: make service which is a proxy for phone number validation: user needs to validate his phone number once in that app and any other 3rd-party service can ask this app for security code which confirms phone number ownership. We use something similar by offloading phone number confirmation via Telegram bot. Also this proxy service could optionally offload management of "bad" phone numbers used by spammers and add other protections
In rural places car is neccessity everywhere in the world, but in urban it is not
open source tracing tools can be easily locally hosted
At my work we use Capistrano for PHP projects. It does not matter in which language project is written. You can still use ruby Capistrano and it works good enough
I haven't see any project which feels fast which are written in React. But most important thing for me which is broken (because it is too difficult to catch all edge cases) in all the JS frontends is the broken navigation (browser's back and forward almost never work as expected, bookmarking links are broken because state is in JS etc.)
Ukrainians are good developers themselves. Maybe you can automate finding Western busineses still using software made in Russia and recomend alternatives. Or nudge Western IT companies to provide special deals for Ukrainian developers
Recently we are having issues with recaptcha/hcaptcha as bots seem to have broken them or got very cheap services to solve them. Only Cloudflare Turnstile helps us now. No wonder also github tries harder to block bits now
Quality of code is very relevant for business success for millions of reasons.
* good and self-respecting developers will not work on bad quality code. Business will be left with bad/mediocre devs who will implement bussiness needs slowly and with bad quality
* good code base and good dev practises make development much faster and with fewer errors, with easier new developer onboarding etc.
How many of IT projects have had a rewrite a costly rewrite because it became unmanageable?
80% managers think only about business needs- even those who previously were developers themselves because it is convenient and they do not have sell that maintenance is also needed
Inflation is good for some people if they are heavily indebted. Amount to pay back stays the same but wages grow
One of the main metric for build time for me is to make it fast enough so you do not want switch to other task at all
I can asks admins about peering. I have no idea as am am developer :)
We are hosted in Latvia (DEAC data centers) and we manage our servers on our own
I work at inbox.eu.
You can use it for free if you are ok with sending max 3 emails per day. You need to verify mobile phone or verify account via Telegram for free acounts. Also 9.99 EUR per year for premium account is one of the lowest prices available in the market from professional email providers :)
I am developer and this is my exact work setup
PHP has native way via composer to clean up unneeded google APIs: https://github.com/googleapis/google-api-php-client#cleaning...
You seem to had never gone trough this approval process. There are many dark patterns there:
* Asking for huge amount of money in the of the process (after you wasted hundreds of hours of expensive developer time) * forcing to use restricted scope (read,White, delete) for standard IMAP access even if you need only read-only access or use their proprietary API with read-only scope with unknown rate limits and which is difficult and time-consuming to use * cryptic messages why app is not approved and ignoring arguments made for their questions * often changing APIs (access token formats)
They do everything to avoid competition not making better product but by locking existing customers to their ecosystem.
And this is not only google. We had similar issues Apple and Meta.
There is only one thing why this is done: to make impossible to move from gmail (also with custom domains) to another provider. We have the same problem. We spent hundreds of hours implementing their legacy auth (less secure apps), gmail oauth2 and domain-wide delegation to be later stuck in approval process. Until our app is not approved users can not use e-mail import/migration tool to our inbox.eu service. And there is lot of demand for that because people do not want to pay so much for e-mail. Shame on google... they also do not provide reas-only access to IMAP which is more than enough to export your mailboxes to other e-mail providers
Thanks for feedback and I agree with you. Owners of inbox.eu first wanted to market product for less technical small business people.
Now we are moving away from this business model and will give more priority for custom domain e-mail.
Soon we are launching new pricing page with feature list of free/premium personal mailboxes and custom domain mailboxes
