For the length of time this article covered you would need a power source and to not have your box discovered for months. Probably something out on the street isn't going to fulfill both of those requirements so you'd be trying to enter "Enterprise A" which is unlikely given the presumed elevated security profile this article implies (any guesses who?). With what they pulled off the "box" that ended up being used was something already plugged in next door and very much supposed to be there. Seems easier than any physical attack would have been.

I think that's a little silly, You can get a google search to look for hyper specific stuff it just requires a little bit of massaging. It was not at all true that there was no massaging required when asking Jeeves for something.

I don't know how to estimate nostalgia but I've absolutely noticed google search results getting worse in the past 6 - 18 months. You'll see that the entire page of results is based off one misreading of a phraseology, not what you actually searched for. It feels worse in a "misguided" way, not in a pure deterioration way.

If there's any justice in the world every person who participates in this sort of work will be shamed and ostracized in the future.

Energy usage may be not that high, but data usage, especially on mobile devices, is very high.

Even on my home network something insane like 30% of packets sent and received are ad or tracking related, which I know because they all get blocked by the PiHole sitting next to the router.

Choosing to block ads literally makes my browsing go faster, and keeps my data limits from being blown out. AND it prevents fingerprinting of my habits? It's a complete no-brainer.

I bought a TV that, because of the pihole, I know phones home approximately once every thirty seconds about my viewing habits.

In the world we live in something like a pihole isn't an ideological position, it's a necessity to not have everything we do end up rolling into someone else's ad profile on my household.

That's a lot of words that don't really mean anything. Art being subjective means that you absolutely can critique "bad" art, not that you never should. I mean your word salad about "the effect art has on people" is literally saying that, just instead of talking about the art itself you're now talking about it's 'effect' (as if you would ever be talking about something else?)

McMansions are bad art because they have bad effects on the people who live in them and view them. People divide the things that cause good effects into rules and guidelines. This post then talks about those rules and guidelines.
