My brother referred me to a summer internship. After that, 1 or 2 years later I joined a "students work" company who placed me at a web development agency, and I worked there part time during my studies for more than a year. Tried to do some of my own projects after that for 2 years, continuing my studies (I was a bad student, it took a long time for me to fail out of university).

Moved to the UK and submitted a lot of CVs, did the take home test, and one hired me as a web developer. This is what I'd consider my first real job. It was a nice job with nice people.

I use it with an intel macbook, it works just fine, as you'd expect. I encounter no issues.

There is already a company which is doing similar thing in the UK for Wind Farms. I can't find the name right now though, they were featured on the Fully Charged youtube channel.

I am not in the UK, and I'd gladly invest in a solar farm as a "community member" to cover my own usage but in my country noone is doing it - and probably I would not trust them either (eastern EU). I was actually looking for this a few weeks ago, and the only thing I found is that I can sponsor some African farms through some EU scheme.

In any case, if someone knows some good solar farms which have this community ownership model, I'd be happy to check it out.

I just got my first iPhone, without a charger. Now I have a MacBook as well, which has my only charger having USB-C out (and the ports on the machine). I find it pretty funny that I have to use an older Apple device with only USB-C ports to charge a newer Apple Device with a port I only have one cable for and have no charger to plug that cable except the MacBook. By Apple's thinking only has these ports because that's the future but somehow they missed to put these on the iPhone.

For anyone who is suffering from this, or on some days finds it hard to sleep I recommend Science and Futurism With Isaac Arthur podcast.

It has "Narration Only" versions of all episodes and it is very interesting, so if you can't sleep you can listen to it but it will not have harsh noises.

Also Philosophize This has the same properties (very old episodes have some loud music).

I tried Mumble but it was lacking in something, maybe the push to talk did not work properly or the echo cancellation was not working? I can't really remember now.

Teamspeak is still the best when it comes to chatting when gaming, it is usable with voice activation, push to talk and it has so good echo cancellation that it works when both of us are on speakers.

Though the current version uses almost a full core on my machine, it's still worth it in my opinion and you can find many free servers you can connect to.

I am making a self hosted or maybe hosted website where you can just import youtube/your videos and you get a link to a podcast feed. None of the existing ones worked for me and I like to listen podcasts before sleeping, and there are a lot of channels which don't need the video part.

It's not public yet, but let me know your thoughts about the idea.

I like to think about scifi stuff when I can't sleep and someone recommended audio books in one of the comments. There is a podcast by Isaac Arthur about science and futurism, and he provides narration only versions. Honestly this is a miracle for my sleep.

It's very interesting and because it doesn't have music and loud sounds it will not wake you up if you fell asleep.

I think you can import the URL into your podcast reader.

He publishes it in a podcast format as well without the background music, which I am very thankful for.

It's possible that your site's IP was used previously for some other sites and it was indexed as http://IP/... now google will retry to fetch the urls for a time.

Maybe you have someone's domain resolving to your IP. Seems to me that nginx is resolving the IP to the default site in the config.

That's why I had a custom script which always set the counter to zero for HipChat. The numbers are very annoying. We had a Lunch room where people discussed what to get for lunch, and it had a counter near it's name. Also reseted the tab counter.

That really seems weird. I don't think it's git's fault. Also he could have done git merge master --accept-theirs if he really wanted some kind of history but I guess it would be worthless.

Currently my favourite time wasters are learning channels on youtube. Especially not the "weird" ones like VSauce because I think those are pretty unwatchable. I like SciShow / SciShow space even though that's borderline weird :)

It really helps when renaming methods for example. I am not sure how much it helps with extract method.

I changed my opinion when I checked out their homepage, usually if you go from HN or reddit it's a higher quality post but when you go from the homepage you can get a glimpse of the average post. It just lost that kind of credibility feeling for me.

Android removed support for reflow after 5.0 I think.

I think I have the same problem.

For example I knew that I want to look for a new room. I couldn't start it because I did not know how much time it would take. This makes it really hard to start.

When I finally started I just said that I'll do it until 8 pm or something. This makes it easy to not stop cause "oh it's only 30 minutes I have to do this then I can go take a shower".

This is why I think techniques like pomodoro can really help someone. It's just hard to start something, and more you do it, more you know what's left. Usually this stops the fear for me.

I don't know but they removed the reflow from the browser used in Motorola E 2gen and for me who only uses it for reading on the tube this almost made it unusable.

When I tried out the play framework that was one of the "woah" moment when I discovered the typesafe routing. It is really good, and it automatically generates the routes from controller methods.

It's like a whole new world of generating urls.

It is not even that, just some people like the "errors" in the playback. They say it makes it sound warmer.

After I learned signal processing at university I always thought that the Heaviside step function was named like that because the step is "heavy" or something in the signal.
