MM.LaFleur | Mid-level Software Engineer (100-130k) | New York | FULL-TIME | https://mmlafleur.com

I’m looking for someone to join my team building our API.

MM.LaFleur is a fast-growing professional womenswear company based in New York City. We aim to be the go-to wardrobe solution for women of purpose by taking the work out of dressing for work.

You will:

    - Help build an API to power our internal and external tools
    - Work closely with a team of engineers and product managers
    - Write and review code using coding standards and best practices
    - Write unit/integration tests, and document your work
What you need: experience with PHP, GIT, an understanding of relational databases, and strong English comprehension/communication skills.

Nice to have: Magento and/or e-commerce experience.

The interview process contains a phone screen, technical interviews, and in house interviews with different team members.

No recruiters. Send an email to luke.evers@mmlafleur.com with a resume if you’re interested.

What’s your version of what HN is to other people? In the way that people learn about new things, connect with others in various niches, etc—where do you go for that?

How I review code 8 years ago

Not exactly. In a lot of fast paced environments it’s rare to get a chance to rewrite something that functions properly just because it could be labeled as technical debt. It’s not about culture, it’s about moving on to the next thing. I code review hard to make sure we have the smallest amount of technical debt possible because it’s usually there to stay for a considerable amount of time.

I have an IRC channel that myself and a few friends use every day. It’s probably 30% technical and 70% chat. I do wish more people still used it, but I guess most people like chat platforms with fancy features now.

That sounds really horrible. I'd rather be out of a job than work for some place like that.

What kind of a job are you looking for? I assume you're some kind of engineer, but on my phone so didn't look into anything.

In regards to the battery life, I was excited to see "9 hours remaining" the first time I turned the new MBP on. Realistically, I get about 3-5 depending on what I'm doing.

MM.LaFleur | Software Engineer | NYC, New York https://mmlafleur.com

MM.LaFleur is a professional womenswear company that aims to be the go-to wardrobe solution for modern women of purpose by delivering luxury-quality clothing via a seamless, direct-to-consumer stylist experience.

We're looking for engineers that love what they do and aren't afraid to tackle difficult problems. We use a variety of modern programming languages and tools. Right now we're mainly using PHP and Ruby.

In the past, I've posted on here and forwarded a lot of the emails I've received to other people at the company (assuming that they'd reply back), and only replied to a handful. I apologize to anyone who has not received an email back in the past; I'll be responding to every email I receive.

Any level of software engineers may apply! I've received messages in the past because our job board mentions senior engineers (it should be updated). We offer a competitive salary, benefits, and other perks.

Send me an email at luke.evers (at) mmlafleur (dot) com.

Scotland (if I have to pick a city, Edinburgh). I don't really know what the job market is there for software development though. NY is great because of the huge market, but after traveling all over the UK (and Scotland twice), both my wife and I would love to live there. There's not nearly as many people as there are here in the US (which is a plus), and it's beautiful everywhere.

People always bash iTunes, but I actually use it quite often and I like it. Maybe it's just me though?

The only thing that bugs me, is on iOS, when I load the music app (that's basically iTunes for iOS, right?) it shows a blank page until it can connect to the their servers to grab some data. It doesn't have a problem if I'm on wifi or a fast connection, but I'm often in places where my service is shit, and I get a white screen and can't pick what music I want to listen to. My workaround is to pull the menu up from the bottom of the screen and just hit "play" and then it usually works.

But iTunes itself, I do like.

Yeah. I love my Pebble Time Round, I've worn it (almost) every day since I got it (last December). People who don't care about smart watches love it and come up to me and ask what kind of a watch it is.
