Writing. As in paid to do it, with briefs, deadlines and editors. From this comment I probably look like a crap writer! I do need to focus alot to write well.

I don't use AI except for checking for basic mistakes. I may start using AI for research but I refuse to use it for generating a word of content.

I am thinking of writing a book. I have a rough idea of my rate 100 words per hour (including edits, research) so a 50k word book would take 500 hours or about a year of consistent grind. I'd probably blog the book content allowing for a win even if I abort early.

Yeah get your PR and citizenship to your desired country ASAP (wouldn't help in this case as they did anyway). Generally the world gets less friendlier to migration over time. Be it little things like more tests, costs and waits or big things like booting people out without due process.

What happens if you need to catch up? You keep calling in a loop with a new lastEventId?

What is the intention there though. Is this for social media type feeds, or is this meant for synchronising data (at the extreme for DB replication for example!).

What if anything is expected of the producer in terms of how long to store events?

Technology ironically. The stuff Peter talks about where Y=0. The covid vaccine inventors for example.

Other Y=0 things are people giving their lives for the greater good and basic rights. Geneva convention. Rights for black people, rights for women.

Infact the world runs on Y=0 stuff.

These are the people who will survive (AI or Otherwise!).

I would also add:

The rich. If you invested well and sit on 10M+ you are probably OK as long as you keep investing well.

The very talented (and recognized) e.g. anything from sports starts to pop stars.

Many "real world" jobs like police, fire, nurses, etc.

Anything where being human is a part of what is for sale. Tour guides, theatre, mixologists, hairdressers.

This sounds like sage advice! Instead of paying for ads, pay for yourself to cold call. The investors still get value.

Also don't travel anymore and the workshops are not mandatory unless it is in some kind of contract. Even then negotiate to get that changed as it increases runway. They can record the workshop for you too if needed.

If you do everything remotely you could move to lower COL area.

They can move to Discord, Whatsapp (huh!), Signal, Reddit or some sailor forum.

If FB disappeared they could reroute.

Bigger things are disappearing and we are going to be fine*. E.g. much world trade with the US.

The travel things you describe to me are work (in a good way) getting away from it all can give you the clarity to know what big moves to make. I recently went to Tokyo and didn't touch work at all. The only way!

For those who can't afford that like the sister comment you can explore your own city (or suburbia or countryside). Everywhere is exotic to someone. In all 3 cases a bicycle does a good job!

I think you are right with the building analogy. Most stuff built in the last 25 years is crap quality! But importantly looks nice. Needs to look nice at first.
