If you want to get to a higher level compiler, prompt fondling will not suffice; you need to master formal specification. Then machine learning algorithms can do the program synthesis to implement the spec. But just talking out your vague software requirements with a chatbot is not analogous to programming.

Also, like others said, even once you have your formal spec, C is a particularly bad choice (unless you want to specify quite a bit more). You want the program implemented in a language with as many safety constraints on it as possible, not one where you have to mentally track memory.

Would you like to count the number of spaces that various items in your manifests are indented and then pass that as an argument to a structure-unaware text file templating engine? Only thing I'd quibble with is the reason most consumers switched off of pseudoephedrine. The manufacturers knew that the inconvenience of having to go to the counter would reduce sales so they just replaced it in the aisle with an identically branded product with a different active ingredient. Python doesn't use semantic versioning. The number after the first period is a major (annual) release and can and does contain breaking changes (though so far never on the scale of the 2->3 upgrade).

Private equity owned businesses are run in an even more predatory manner, not for next quarter's profits but just to extract every dime of equity as fees and services for their parent or as loan principal that can never be paid back.

And then venture-backed companies are ticking time bombs that abruptly close shop when they run out of money or are acquired, or at best themselves turn into the publicly traded companies you loathe.

"Good" companies are mostly just a consumer-friendly stage of the investment lifecycle.

Yes, deterrence does require both sufficient certainty and severity of punishment. But, those can pull against each other and it seems quite likely that universities and individual academics would stonewall if cooperation could lead to a colleague being imprisoned for years.

A more fitting punishment is firing and blacklisting from future research posts.
