Certainly has an impact, but the embargo is also used by the government as a scapegoat to cover up poor policies, corruption, etc.

I have heard from some Cubans they would love to see the embargo lifted just to expose how many of the problems are created by the government/army.

Pretty cool! I tried to list my app but the screenshot upload doesn't seem to work -- it won't accept any files I've tried via drag/drop in Chrome or Firefox. I've been able to upload files to other sites without any issue (running Linux).

the old wifi (Gogo Inflight) is slow and terrible. The new wifi being rolled out (ViaSat) is better, the speedtest screenshots I've seen have been 50-150 Mbps down.

Zoom happily supports screen sharing on Wayland/gnome, even using the flatpak version.

Obscuring your location from your employer could be a thing

This seems fairly unlikely... Your employer needs to do some really basic things that require knowing where you live, like withold your state taxes, ensure they are abiding by state employment laws at the very least.

When I worked at Cisco years ago fresh out of college, they offered an Employee Stock Purchase Program -- you could put up to X$ towards purchasing Cisco stock over the quarter, and the stock was issued at the end of the quarter at min(start_price, end_price) * 0.85.

I haven't worked at another large corporation since then but I thought that was fairly generous and I still have quite a bit of CSCO from that program.

It also worked as drop in replacement for PulseAudio for me, except all my audio now had stutters and pops. I ended up going back to Pulse.

I got suggestions that I could go tweak buffer sizes stuff in a config file somewhere, but for my simple desktop use case I'd rather my audio just sounds right out of the box.

Hopefully this sort of thing gets straightened out, because having to muck with config files to make my sound server actually work is like going back to working directly with ALSA or OSS.

Just a warning that although it claims to support Linux, on launch I got two options:

* Run without wine (Linux)

* Launch with wine

I also use Project Fi; I also ordered a Pixel3 when it went on sale last month. Fedex attempted delivery when I wasn't home; I had important meetings the next day and couldn't stay home again, so I used Fedex's "hold for pickup at Fedex Store" feature to re-route the package. This was a crucial mistake.

Fedex then refused to deliver the package to either my house or the store; they sat on the package for TWO WEEKS, all while their "Customer Support" lied to me about what the status was (It will be delivered EOD today; it's already been delivered; it's going to be held for pickup...etc).

In the end the only way to get them to deliver my package was to contact the shipper, Google. It was delivered two days later.

The process I followed was:

* create an account on binance.com

* transfer the stellars there, making sure to follow the instructions about the MEMO_TEXT.

* convert the lumens into bitcoin

* transfer the bitcoin to coinbase

* sell it.

There is probably a more optimized or less expensive way to accomplish this, but this was the easiest way for me, and binance did not require a social security number or photo id like some sites wanted.

I used to feel the same way you do; I grew up here, moved away, and eventually came back. Atlanta is a much different place now.

I wouldn't choose to live "just outside" of Atlanta either, for all the terrible traffic/commute reasons you mentioned -- I live ITP and a 5 minute walk from a train station with a 10-minute hassle-free commute. Somehow I can survive here as part of a one-car household.

Also please don't paint an entire city (let alone one with Atlanta's demographics) as full of "casual racism." C'mon.

I really like the concept and the mobile app is great, but I have to agree. The desktop version seems like it doesn't even get tested before it gets released. After every new version I open it up and immediately find obvious issues.

Most recently swiping an email would leaves a 'ghost' unclickable email in the inbox. Did no one test the main focus of the app? Prior to that they pushed out a release that crashed every time I opened it until I figured out how to delete my existing settings database.

Yesterday I tried to open it and it just told me "The app has been disabled" and refused to log me in.

If you want working multi-monitor support you will pretty much have to compile your own kernel, add custom repos, and manually configure X.

I don't think this has been a problem in years, and even 10 years ago I never had to compile my own kernel for multiple monitors to work.

Could you elaborate on 'the symlink problem?' I just installed 2.2 and symlinks seem to function as expected to me.

You can restart systemd on the fly with `systemctl daemon-reexec`.

Keeping in mind that strncpy has it's own problems, like not null terminating the buffer if it would overflow.

Where are you getting the player images from? I had a project recently where I wanted to pull NBA player images but couldn't find any freely available. Ended up hotlinking to NBA.com and hoping noone noticed.
