To be more clear, Airfoil covers both complaints about the Airport Express: "I don’t believe you can play from any audio source on the computer, and I don’t believe you can stream to multiple AirPorts at the same time." Both iTunes and Airfoil can play to multiple Airports at once.

The X25 comes in 160GB varieties too, but I understand the trade-off at comparable prices. With a technology that changes so quickly, I set myself a couple requirements before I'd buy an SSD:

-Performance had to be equivalent or better than a WD Velociraptor across the board (the OCZ Vertex achieves that with firmware updates, the Intel is slightly slower on max sequential writes, but makes up for it in every other benchmark).

-It had to be at least 120GB for my personal laptop.

-It had to be around $300. I assume any SSD purchase made now is going to be replaced in 1-2 years, so purchasing anything more than necessary is hard to justify.

I think you're mis-stating how the capital gains rate will change, although that's the obvious interpretation based on the linked article.

Based on Wikipedia (which may be wrong, but at least explains it more clearly), the long-term capital gains rate will be 0% for those in the 10% income tax bracket, 10% for those in the 15% income tax bracket, and 20% for all others, meaning the discontinuity for joint filing happens around $65k. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_gains_tax_in_the_United...

Why TV Lost 17 years ago

Your example of the Daily Show doesn't really hold up. If you use torrents, a lot of shows are up before they even broadcast on the west coast. If you use Hulu, the Daily Show is available the next morning.

Of course, iTunes movie rentals stream 720p (which is what most HDTV channels use). They spend about 1 minute buffering the stream, then you can watch the movie.

Facebook is providing a platform for a huge number of businesses to make money off Facebook Apps. I would look at building part of their business model off that. Facebook Apps makes it virtually impossible for them to make money off their own applications because there will always be incentives for new players to make a competing app.

Since no one seems to have mentioned leverage and credit default swaps, here's the first summary I could find: http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2008/04/credit-default-swaps-...

There are many better if anyone cares to look; the mortgages defaulting lend themselves to a house of cards analogy. Banks were so heavily leveraged that they may not even be able to handle even a small number of defaulting loans on property that decreased in value.

His point seemed to be that bad wedding photographers were grossly overpaid. I agree not on the same level as mutual fund managers and bad CEOs, but probably on the same level as the West Coasters he mentions.
