Didn't Carmack recently have a talk where he said he was done with VR and moving to AGI

Internationally where? In Europe we care more about the people US kills with their shitty healthcare and gun laws than some false flag excuse to reoccupy Iraq oil
Did you read your comments? Your posturing was obvious and embarrassing
I use the Firefox mobile option of not loading media on the site when not on wifi and it helps me stay on 300mb data plan easy
They strayed too far from the core product and had to be cut. I consider it a sensible decision from a budget perspective? How much does it make sense for a nonprofit to fund a growing language? Now corps can spend their money on Rush instead directly
I mean you could also pay someone who is educated to handle the situation
What does that mean? Trained 1 DNN and it had good results so it's all worth it?
Damn I hope I never have to leave gmail and bother with this self setup crap. Would you self hosting guys feel silly if gmail existed in 30 years and you wasted all this time doomsday prepping for nothing?
What is the point of disabled features in master except to not have to have feature branches. Making sure it compiles? You aren't really using those code paths are you? You should have unit tests on your feature branch anyways
Holy shit the amount of made up things you just wrote. "Systematic code review adds friction"? At Microsoft we switched from Perforce or whatever the old centralized system was to gitfs and productivity tripled. We didn't have to manage dumb zip files anymore. We already had code review because what is wrong eith you why wouldn't you have it. Why does continuous integration contradict feature branching? How do you have stable versions of the software if you have unfinished features and hacking in the master version?? I guess this makes sense for very small teams early in the development process but then you can just skip feature branching in git for a while. Git is a godsend
Isn't sea floor always 4 degrees no matter the climate?
My grandparents all say the liked it and they still wake up at that time after 20 years in retirement
People used to wake up at 5 to be at the factory at 6 am. Now you have the gp complaining the construction work starts at 7. Can't please everyone
Note how the GP uses the word "world" while you use the words "the US"
The space is a much more controlled environment and has low uptime compared to millions of cars every day
Why does is handling state on the backend better than handling it on the frontend? You will always have the cost of waiting for the server to return the full html every time you want something to happend and still you will have cases where you are handling state on the frontend
Json is not popular because it saves bits but because it's easily readable and maps 1:1 with js objects. I've worked with xml and xslt and while I see the advantages I still prefer json for anything. Your validation should come from annotated objects on the backend anyways which should be a single source of truth and then it doesn't matter which markup format you are validating
Maybe the uk is not socialist enough
How is this terrible? Isn't this pretty standard in all big languages?
"When started"? I don't think it was ever really considered BS other than maybe specifically western medicine in the past max 100 years. Doesn't it make sense that with the progress medicine has done in the last century that we would scrutinise methods which couldn't be scientifically proven?
Self-made what? Politicians? Do you have the numbers? I expect the percentages to be more or less the same as for and other affluent profession
The sad part about the js ecosystem is that even the biggest corps like Google can't keep their own js ecosystem stable on the last version. I have a small Angular app with Firebase backend and every time I come back to it to update, the libs are out of sync
Do they have to be better in anything? I'm totally ok if they are just a little worse than Chrome but relatively independant. I don't see the browser space that endangered right now. As a casual user I din't see a problem if there even was a feature freeze for some time. I get that things are moving in some direction always but all this innovation about dumb websites is maybe overengineering
I mean in a EU country a male haircut costs 6€. In another EU country a male haircut costs at least 30€. People can live on both wages. These number are relatively arbitrary as they make sense in the ecosystem of housing and other prices. California can compensate in many ways for the fact that "people don't want to pay the gig workes more". Free/social healthcare, education and housing via progressive taxing etc. Since people in the USA don't want to be "slaves of communism" or whatever, they are wage slaves
How do you avoid bad actors in these scenarios? Sounds ripe for general havoc, targeting specific people etc
Who says it's stronger? It's OK at best. If you look at numbers, 200k people being in a group about some dumb thing from a country of >300mil people (I guess there are people from other countries as well) is not that much. Especially if you suppose that many of those are not seriously believing but just there for the laughs
How do we know if anyone is checking?
Maybe they are ok with 200mil$
It's really cool but why does it have to be so expensive. I get that nowdays "whatever you want costs 5 dollars a month" but realistically things which should be way cheaper are now 5 dollars a month. I'm in my 2nd Nordvpn 3 year sub which also increased in price to 3€ per month. I mean if you want 100 things which require 100 subscriptions you end up at at least 500€ a month. And now there are 5 video streaming platforms which cost even more and you realistically want all of them. The whole sub life thing might be getting out of hand
But how does Google force CEOs into a 4 year contract post acquisition?
