I am not into classical music, but I think there are similarities for fans of jam bands especially the grateful dead. Ive never heard a group so passionate about specific versions of song depending on the date/location.

I feel UI designers could make something work but its such a niche group of people its hard to spend resources designing and maintaining a catalog of recordings of different versions of the same song.

Are you mad about the content or the way it was shown (interfering)? I get these things every couple weeks it's usually pretty targeted/relevant. If it's not incredibly relevant to me it's usually culturally pretty important.

Personally I think spotify is the best content provider to give me good recommendations. Compared to netflix, youtube and other media source they dont show the same 10 items mixed into other topics.

The unfortunate thing about the insane amount of tests that spotify runs to make their platform more engaging is some people will have bad experiences.

All entertainment seems to be broken. Let me watch something on netflix my recommended list is almost identical to comedy, adventure, etc. Their machine learning must show that people will just watch what is in front of them.

Trillions of decisions have been made off a tool that has poor error handling and data consistency issues. Blame is not entirely on either the user or the software, but the tool is too trusted without validation.

Programmable commands instead of a data grid would be huge improvement to quality but people use excel in many ways. Python is out of reach for most people. SQL would be an improvement as well. I assumed airtable or similar would replace excel over time. But the sunk cost for existing report and the sharablity seems to keep excel in control.

Gasoline (all types) 42.7% - Huge dip when the pandemic happened now its back to pre covid prices.

Natural gas (piped) 21.1% - Same issue.

Used cars and trucks 31.9% - New cars are being made because of a ship shortage.

Meats, poultry, fish, and eggs 8.0% - a labor problem because its hard to get that many people to work in spaces like that and not get sick.

Taiwan importance is its geography. If China is able to control Taiwan it would not have any restriction for its shipping lanes and military. Its a much more important asset in the long run compared to HK.

Keeping a raw version of the data make it easier to change in the future. If you use s3 as a data lake you can transform later into the shape you want it. Also can use tools like presto where schema is on read instead of hardcoded so transform step is moved to another time.

Yeah there is definitely some shady stuff going on. NFT appeared on my radar a month ago and now its everywhere. IMO this a bubble being artificially inflated by rich marketers. Also in general, people with wealth have given up on investing in real value business. Its high speculation crypto/stocks/shorts now. Not a good sign for the future when some of those risks fall apart.

Amazon or AWS? I think amazon has tried everything big data for maximizing their revenue and reducing costs. They are probably an ad platform now more than eCommerce. AWS is now the profit center for amazon. Storage is a part of the strategy but they are moving to serverless. They are pros at hosting X so they offer it as a service. Kafka, Hbase, spark, etc.

Their desktop version is not much better.

Not to sound inconsiderate, but I would suggest writing a blog doing research for people instead of making a tech solution. MVP can use existing tools. You will find that a lot of these small businesses have Square or Toast at their stores. Those are going to use a different service than the one I mentioned above. Its always tempting to build but it could take weeks before you can provide these small businesses with a tech solution and there might not be in the infrastructure to help them use the gift cards.

There are solutions out there already. It will take a lot of time to get POS integration and work ou the bugs. I wouldn't reinvent the wheel.

Maybe resubmit this post so the link works. I would love this for music festivals. They have some solutions but they are hundreds of dollars. If people in the group could put this on a backpack it would be a game-changer. Music festivals also have a big problem with internet access. If they could put host a few powerful repeaters in the middle with electrical and have 5% of attendees (staff) with these they could probably cover the entire place. Send out lineup changes or emergency notices.
