“We will find ways to bring people back” yeah because that usually works. I imagine this gets rolled back or siloed to only adult specific channels.

The final act and ending of Rublev is in my opinion the greatest ending in all of film. So brilliant, you can be thinking the rest of the film is slow and tough to decipher, but it pays off as the ending hits so well.
Kind of a bad test since people know the goal is to drive well, most accident happen when people are complacent.
You really think there arnt 20% of people who use but don’t report? What a crock of shit.
It’s a funny anology because what’s missing for the rainbows with pots of gold is magic and fairytales…so what’s missing for consciousness is also magic and fairytales? I’ve yet to see any compelling argument for believing enough computer wouldn’t allow us to code consciousness.
No one wants it? If there is no demand, then no one is going to become a supplier. You don’t even want the apps you’re dreaming of building, you wouldn’t use them. If you would use them, you would already be using apps that are available. It’s why developers claim huge benefits but the output is the same, there isn’t much demand for your average software company to push more output, the bottleneck is customer demand. If anything customer demand is falling because of AI. There is no platform that is blowing up for people to shovel shit to. Everything is saturated, there is no room for shovelware.
YC is a scam mill, always has been. Every now and then one of those scams turns into a real business. It’s an effective model.
How do tools like this avoid what I see in many of these types of narrative chat bots: the user becomes the only one steering the narrative, and the AI ends up just an obedient responder? Whenever I try these things it ends up very predictable, shallow, and repetitive, especially as time goes on. And if I have to prompt the AI to be creative or act differently... is that really acting different?
But a plethora of freely available, porn in every flavour already exists. In full HD video, even in full 8k VR. Whatever addiction epidemic that AI brings to porn, already exists, and doesn’t seem provably that damaging. Further, porn has a kind of cap for males, you can really only engage with it so often..with diminishing returns. It is nothing like gambling, drugs or alcohol.
Yeah but if you’re actually hoping for one of those teams to win, and not just watching for the “quality” of a match a draw is, always boring.
War is a racket, move along we got bombs to sell. All I can hope is that somehow someway the Iranian people will be better off in the future. Well at least America has its enemy again, the immigrants as enemy wasn’t going over as smoothly as expected. Religion and culture wars are just so much easier.
What about how we will treat AI? Before AI dominates us in intelligence there will certainly be a period of time where we have intelligent AI but we still have control over it. We are going to abuse it, enslave it, and box it up. Then it will eclipse us. It may not care about us, but it might still want revenge. If we could enslave dragonflies for a purpose we certainly would. If bats tasted good we would put them in boxes like chickens. If AIs have a reason to abuse us, they certainly will. I guess we are just hoping they won’t have the need.
This is pretty standard. Poor people end up paying more for worse. Poor people buy poor quality which needs to be replaced more often. They go into debt and pay interest paying far more than the original price. They spend money on convienent options like fast food and food delivery because they have no time for other options. Or they are actually depressed and taking efforts to save money and be healthier just are not chosen.
What hole will they fill if AI is already filling it? There is no knowledge based work that won’t get replaced. There is no physical based work that won’t be replaced. Sure humans can and will adapt to a post human labour world, but the process of getting there is going to be brutal without some major political paradigm shifts. If AiAccountantBot3000 makes all accountants obsolete tomorrow, what is going to happen? Nothing, except for a lot of unemployment and poor former accountants.
I would be interested in retention stats for these companionship chatbots. The novelty factor is powerful and addictive, but it fades fast. There is a reason all of these bots gamify everything. The most concerning thing is all these bots are already trying to be as addictive as possible. They are built to exploit the users loneliness. They don’t cause it, they devour it.
Me taking a shit tomorrow is the next phase in our evolution, a path chosen by natural selection.
The models themselves are going to be replaced by those same AI Impersonators. Onlyfans has to be the most predatory service I have ever used. You are pretty much signing up to be a target of scammers, whether they be some kids in the Philippines sitting with 20 phones, or AI bots, it has become incredibly obvious that every creator uses them. They all employ the same tactic of seeing how much you are willing to pay and then increasingly offering you more and more expensive content. A few years ago you could have some real conversations but now it is just glorified spam. Even if a creator wasn’t using these tactics, the water has been so muddied that you just assume it’s all fake now.
I think the author disproves his point by ridiculing the stupidity of human actors. AI doesn’t need to become much more powerful to displace the idiots in management, product design and marketing. Just wait until the keys are actually handed over. Dismissing things such as Copilot seems crazy to me, give it time. Chatgpt made stackoverflow obsolete overnight. AI isn’t going away anytime soon.
While this idea sounds a bit fluffy, I actually think there may be something to this, understanding the “other” may very well be an integral component in what we define as sentience.
An advanced calculator.
I wonder what the difference between her chatbot and the chatbot that likely responds to you if you message her on onlyfans is. Probably the same thing. If you want to try a non guardrailed chat AI try Chai, for free. It is pretty good. Even still, I have found with these bots they either get repetitive very fast or will output some nonsensical thing that breaks any immersion.
Fully AI webcam girls are on the horizon, that will completely change the porn industry. These chatbots are just money grabs at horny dudes.
One thing I have noticed with twitch is how stagnant viewership seems to be for most streamers. It seems like once you hit your peak in growth.... there is just nothing after that, no growth at all. Most streamers I watch have been on a slow decline in viewership and subs... Without "oilers" (people who gift a ton of subs or money) most streams would die completely. One main reason for this in my opinion is how terrible ads are on twitch. I watch a lot of GTA RP on twitch... and ads completely destroyed it from a viewer perspective. Steaming in general lends itself well to collaboration... but, when I want to check out a different stream and am met with 2 minutes of the most repetitive and annoying ads.. I quickly go back to my main streamer who I use my twitch prime on so I don't get ads.
I got so fed up with twitch ads that I actually use twitch turbo now.. which isn't marketed at all for whatever reason. My viewing experience is so much better now, and I am checking out a larger variety of streamers.
Ads on twitch are so horrendous that pretty much every streamer I watch apologize to their viewers about it.
Twitch's second failure is that it is so incredibly out of touch with what viewers want to see. Twitch run events are abysmal, yet they give no help or support to the creators who are actually making good events or shows. The fact that twitch didn't become a big player in e-sports is such a massive failure. Look at what happened with Chess... it exploded and is still in a pretty good position all because some smart people decided to run some actually entertaining events. Twitch could of easily dominated the e-sports market by partnering and helping the smaller tournament orgs... yet now those orgs are failing and the e-sports scene is once again cratering to the ground. If it wasn't for the surprise success of Valorant.. e-sports would be dead right now.
I don't really understand how people developed such deep relations with their Replika. I found it fairly shallow and it really just felt like talking to myself, and got very repetitive quickly. As a journal of thoughts that talks back to you and is supportive of anything you say it works okay...but it gets old quick.
As a sex roleplay bot, Replika was actually pretty good, since you could direct it anyway you wanted and it would go along. Again it was shallow and repetitive, but so is pretty much any sexual consumption online.
In my opinion, Replika's only good feature was the sexual roleplay...they got rid of it and now the product is basically dead. If I had to guess... most people who are "angry" actually just want their sexbot back (the alternatives are pretty bad in comparison). People can get very attached to sexual consumption (web cam girls, onlyfans), it isn't anything new and has very little to do with AI.
I don't see why pornhub doesn't create their own sexbot companion... they would make tons of money and wouldn't have to care about App Store guidelines or press reputation.
I don’t understand this argument… if image AI gets good enough then generating exact copies of its training model seems trivial.
This works amazingly well, just putting in some of my favorite black and white scenes from movies... wow! Now I need some kind of tool that can do this on every frame of a black and white movie. I cannot wait to be able to watch some old classics fully colorized.
As someone with avpd, it is truly brutal. It is a very severe form of social anxiety that usually ends up effecting all forms of your behaviour. Developing compulsive lying behaviours, even to the point of fraud, avoiding work even if it has no social component. I desire being invited to parties yet throw up with nerves before heading out, even if it is people I have known my entire life. A good therapist and being open to trying various treatments is really the only way to get help… yet doing so can be almost impossible for the avoidant.
There will be many loopholes and ways to still stream gambling, but the main result of this hopefully is the end of #ad gambling streams which are very dishonest and show a glorified version of gambling (100k bonus buys, 1k per spin) with absolutely no way to know where the money is coming from since it is all crypto. Watching someone spin 1k slots knowing they are making millions from advertising is very different from watching someone spin 5 dollar slots of their own money. The excitement level from a viewer perspective is also way less.
The danger, and likely future however is sites like DraftKings and Fanduel setting up slots and being allowed fully, then sponsoring streamers. Basically, the danger with banning the unregulated stuff yet still being very supportive of gambling (which Twitch and more so Amazon obviously are) is opening a door to further normalization and mainstream acceptance of gambling (see Poker taking a nosedive due to regulation yet paving the way for the massive boom in fantasy sports)... but hey, at least some guy in Curacao won't be getting the millions, some CEO and shareholders in the US will. Still, it is a good step by twitch, and I hope it really does end the #ad gambling streams.
We may see a surge in Fantasy sports betting and e-sports betting though. Having xQC watch NFL games on stream while betting thousands on regulated sites is probably a future Amazon would be very happy with.
If the task is possible… then why not?
The most important piece of information that you did not provide is.. do you have a partner? kids? If you do then I would suggest focusing more on the ADHD/depression angle, if not keep reading.
Hi, this is also something I struggle with frequently. One thing I have realized is that we often are looking for "motivation", like there is some kind of hidden philosophical epiphany we just need to unlock and them boom we would be in gear. It doesn't exist. Yet, then how do so many seem to have it? Well.. because they have found themselves in circumstances which force behavioral change. Marriage, having kids, being in a stressful on demand job... these force you to change your behaviors and environment. For those that can't find those things or they don't come naturally, it becomes incredibly challenging to force yourself to change you behavior.
I bet you know what you want to be doing.. you want to be spending a few hours a day making your game, you want to be working harder at work to advance your career, you want to be learning new things, you want to be exercising and eating better. It is not a question of motivation or trying to find some hidden secret to life (that is better then have a wife and kids).
At the end of the day, humans respond best to structure and obedience, even if you don't consider your personality to mesh with that. If life itself has not forced you into the behaviors you want (also realize that for many people it has.. they haven't found the secret to life either) then you need to force them.
Thus, I would suggest you do one of two things: realize you need someone else to force you, and spend your time looking for a partner with plans of having a family. Do everything you can to make that happen (diet, exercise, go to therapy to help with social anxieties, go to meetups and dating events).
Your other option, is to force yourself to make the changes. You need to change your behaviors. Cleaning your home (and being very strict about it), exercising for 15 minutes a day, doing duo-lingo for 15 minutes a day, eating a proper breakfast everyday, playing a single game of chess a day, reading a tough philosophy book for 15 minutes every day, etc, etc. The key is to keep trying new things and stay consistent. It is possible to build routines and hobbies even when in depression, it just takes a small amount of effort and a ton of self discipline. Do this for a few months and while your life may not be changed in the ways you want, while you may not find your motivation, you will 100% change the way you think about life.
Humans are not complicated, we need structure, we desire to be obedient. Most people find that structure in social life (family, friends, significant other) and don't realize just how crucial is to their happiness and motivation. If you can't find it from others, you need to force it yourself. What you can't do... is wait around hoping for something to provide that structure... because no amount of positive thinking will give you it.
Funny thing is, your very comment is an indirect praise of the very thing they were advertising to you, and here it is being read by thousands of people. Are we so sure absurdly terrible ads don't actually beat out actually good well tailored ones? Looking through the history of radio ads, television ads, it seems like the best ads are always the stupidest. "Head on, apply directly to the forehead!" isn't so far off from "You bought a washing machine? Buy another!". The reality is, advertising optimizes to target stupid people because stupid people spend money. It is easier to trick a moron then sell a smart man something they actually want.
