Rich folk don’t like it when poor people get more. It’s not partisan, it’s class based.
When the the only thing CEOs talk about for every new technology is how many people they are going to put out of work because of it, the collective desire for new technology and progress is understandably lessened.
Other countries don’t have the bodycount of dead children like the USA. If anything it proves that less guns makes you safer.

Some people when confronted with a problem, think “I know, I’ll use a different language to generate another language.” Now they have two problems.
System Verilog is the C++ of chip design. It sucks, but it’s everywhere and tied into everything. Like C++ there are so many ways to write dangerous code. We do need a new chip design language but it’s going to take something special to move the needle.

Code can absolutely be incorrectly indented in python and to make matters worse it changes the functionality of the code when it is.

The current state of every app store search is atrocious. IOS, Android, and Windows store. Even if you search for exact terms on IOS you have to slog through large amounts of BS. This is not a new thing.

Not an assumption. Just the data showing this to be true almost universally across the US. Statistically, breakthrough cases also skew older. Locally where I live >95% of patients in the hospital with COVID are unvaccinated.
Have you read the verilog spec? Half the commercial vendors haven’t implemented large portions of the spec or have implemented it differently from each other.
I’d love to have the momentum around open source EDA tools. At this point I’m not hopeful though.
The entire EDA stack from front to back is so ridiculously bad. System Verilog, UVM and the ecosystem that works on it are equally terrible. Just depressing all around.
COVID has almost nothing to do with the erosion of civil liberties in the US. That ship sailed to much applause after 9/11 and neither party has done anything to remove the powers they have. Trying to rewrite this as some sort of COVID thing is silly.
It’s hard the same reason I can’t put a ton of solar panels on my roof and pump large amounts of electricity into the grid. The upstream infrastructure is not sized appropriately. It’s not that running a server is hard but that most internet infrastructure is designed to consume and not produce.

Social activities are most certainly trivial when compared to a pandemic. Right now my kid’s school is starting remote only primarily because teenagers and early 20’s somethings couldn’t stop going to parties over the summer. Actions have consequences.
I'd just go with adding all income (investment or otherwise) into a total pool and then tax that with a single set of rules instead of this stupidly complex tax system.
