I'd never suggest anyone to try a cigarette, but from my experience being addicted to nicotine is not easily translated to being addicted to cigarettes.

It takes a really different state of mind to start a cigarette habit especially due to awful taste and effect of ingesting a strong concentration of chemicals on your body that has nothing to do with dosed concentration of 'mostly just' nicotine.

It may be anecdotal and subjective reasoning, but I battled vape addiction differently than cigarette addiction. I'd classify tobacco addiction more of an emotional addiction, while vaping was more based on nicotine addiction which was more mechanical and predictable than the former.

Work, friends, financial and other lifestyle decisions. All tend to have risks to ruin yourself and your life permanently.

I think that relationships are crucial for the quality of living and not seeking depth in those may be more detrimental than most things I mentioned above.

Especially, the today's 'connected' societies which often give false premise of socializing and promote ideas of isolating yourself from deeper relationships.

Reminds me of the time when GPT3.5 model came out, my first idea I wanted to prototype was ERP which would be based purely on various communication channels in between employees. It would capture sales, orders and item stocks.

It left so bitter taste in my mouth when it started to lose track of item quantities after just a few iterations of prompts. No matter how improved it gets, it will always remind me the fact that you are dealing with an icky system that will eventually return some unexpected result that will collapse your entire premise and hopes into bits.

This will not be an argument but my perspective as an amateur investor.

Main difference between gold and bitcoin is in its history. Gold as a type of investment instrument has already earned its reputation and status. It’s not just a commodity, it’s a financial instrument that had its use in building and making of history and it’s well integrated, recognized and supported by most government and societies.

We still don’t know what Bitcoin really is and how it behaves. It could be valued 10k times up or down next year and there could be no clear reason why that happened. Bitcoin is not in hands of most powerful companies, people and governments and change of its value would not affect anything but net worth of certain individuals or organizations.

By no means, I think bitcoin is here to stay and it has a very clear future as an investment and payment instrument. But I think it’s really silly to say Bitcoin is speculative as much as other investment instruments.

LLM tech is breaking records in popularity because it’s extremely user centric. It reminds us of a friendly teammate that seems seasoned in all areas we talk about with them. It’s a pleasure to talk to them now and then, we enjoy the vast source of information it provides us no matter what the subject is. But then, we ask him to do the work for us…

Or imagine having a senior engineer in a subject you are clueless about (e.g. Haskell) and think about how annoying would it be for both of you to communicate out some advanced functionality program.

Analyzing, researching, learning and making decisions are a crucial part of doing work. LLM apps are useful at another approach for learning and researching, but if you solely rely on them their drawbacks are going to keep you behind.

Sequent Supercharger smartwatch series perhaps?

I actually never heard about it but I guess we now live in the era of “gpt is your friend”. :)

I understand the issues you experience. I don’t get the point you are trying to make.

I have a cheaper smartwatch and a dirty cheap robot cleaner.

Cheaper smartwatch has e-ink screen, notifications, payment, health monitors, etc. It doesn’t have all possible smart features, but in return I got 30d battery life.

Cheap robot vacuum cleaner is based on basic sensors, no lidar or recognition systems. It gets stuck in cables, it misses 10% of spots, but it captures 2 cup sized ball of dust every day.

I am happy with both. Especially because I researched and found what works for me. Maybe the ‘best’, ‘smartest’ and most expensive products in the market isn’t neccesaary what everybody needs?

Very late to reply. Still you take part in a community, you have an identity and you get likes, karma, followers and credibility. Motivation is present just like in monetized systems and you choose where it appears and its related to your account.

In the meantime, I did relize I might have overblown consequences of what a product collecting and summarizing knowledge might cause.

I missed this comment, sorry for the late reply. A warranty system guarantees for free repairs or replacements but doesn't guarantee for a reliable product.

Plus choosing a $1000 for a 10-year warranty would be a very bad deal, since $500 guarantees you 5-year product, additional working time or ability to sell and repurchase of an improved version of a product. Minus could be inflation or less reliable product in the future.

Oh gee, opportunity for volunteers to create truth versus resourceful companies and organisation eager to share their own version of truth on a system whose workings barely anyone can comprehend and for-profit company whose actions anyone can predict.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but your comment is essentially "Lets remove motivation for those who had incentive to share valuable information and see how it turns out.".

Nobody is doubting that accessible and correct information is good for humanity, I am questioning how will that affect knowledge/content providers.

I repeat, what will be the motivation of an individual to share or provide valuable information if you decrease or eliminate any control of where and how that information appears?

No, that's an argument against any bot visiting any website for the purpose of repackaging and redistributing information regardless of motivation website was concieved for.

Public content is still mostly published with a reference to a certain or anonymous individual/organization and gains visibility based on a value and an effort to be seen. Individual/organization is still motivated by visibility, popularity, acceptance and approval of that content.

We can summarize that people are motivated by a reaction. What do you think will happen when you remove or decrease reaction to knowledge/content providers?

A human reads a website, watches/clicks on ad, buys merch, subscribes to website, sets a bookmark to a website, shares an article, invites others etc.

What will be the point of sharing knowledge or content if it will no longer be associated to an individual or organization?

Most people buy products because they are usable, not useful. There is crazy amount of tech available today, and people strive to own most of them. The decision to purchase is usually based on wheter we can afford it and wether we will find some use for it.

The mere fact that goggles will enable users to communicate and consume media just as they can with devices they already own, will be the key argument to purchase this expensive headset.

But this incremental improvement we get after purchase of each-time-more-polished device finacnces future inventions and innovations, and then after some number iteration we get something that is truly useful. At least that's the trend I noticed regarding every tech breakthrough and hype in this century.

Porsche/Bugatti ‘partnership’ was actually a large investment venture and major restructuring of the company into multiple subsidaries with a complex ownership and hierarchy. I’ll be convinced it’s valuable when something of value comes out of that venture.

On the contrary, I am not bringing their internal mindset and intentions into question at all, as I do posses some non-public details on how the company operates internally. Afterall, I mentioned in a few places, I sincerely root for that company.

However, relying on a fastest EV badge for 10 years and making some sales is not nearly enough for company of that size to take on another hit and wait project. And public data they release year after year consisting of promises and plans, but ‘keeping’ success stories, achievements and breakthroughts for themselves is enough to know it’s not a good sign.

Investors will wait for their ROI only for so long.

Manufacturing EVs is something they have yet to prove themselves in. AFAIK and not sure how many orders/sales they have but not many vehicles were made and delivered.

They have a lot of money to spend and expand due to huge investments, but only thing they successfully sell is technology and products as third party supplier.

Their only announcements are how they are expanding business and investing in the future, but rarely any news of valuable partnerships, dominating the market and exceeding at certain field.

I am very supportive of this company, but there is less and less good news, and more and more optimistic promises being made.

So, they have essentialy created and announced a brand that will go down that route. How viable is having mass production of a product in less than two years with pilot projects underway all while core business and other high profile technological advancements are still being in development?

Don't get me wrong, they are a huge startup with the right mindset and expertise, but they didn't excel at one single thing other than investment collecting, and yet another high profile project is set to flourish in two years...

I really hope for their success, but as usual their announcement is delivered with no substance. Promises of entering a completely new market with few projects in negotiation and already announcing mass production in less than two years...

I could understand they are just fishing for another round of investments to catch up to some masterplan. Extreme expansion and growth without significant results can only result in an explosive burst.

I find your arguments on point, but his will, determination and sacrifice are just like steroids - means that enabled him to be competitive. It’s unfair not to mention his genetics as the most significant factor in his entire jouney.

Arnold‘s story is amazing, but he was surrounded with like minded people at least as much determined to achieve what he did, yet they never did come close to his heights.

There are examples of genetically predispositioned individuals in a lot of sports or competitive activities, and though amazing, we ought to differentiate pure will with blessings of nature, and celebrate the qualities that should be celebrated.

Arnold was a literal and figurative beast, no doubt in that.

I don’t think its applicable here. I personally have many platforms and options where I can find most movies that I want to watch. With this many options I have no trouble finding movie I’ll almost definitely enjoy watching.

This process for finding right movie takes effort and many aspects, while the streaming service only has my watching/browsing history and rating system which I don’t bother participating in.

I think it might get better if they become more intrusive, though.

Why would choosing a safer travel method or avoiding unnecessary drives ruin the quality of life? I am not proposing to quit living a life, only adjusting the methods of living. We obviously don’t share the same values regarding the quality of life.

I think it’s more funny you choose a rhetoric that suits your lifestyle and your needs, and dismiss that it might be helpful for people who don’t find alcohol culture appealing.
