Problem with Smart TVs is they become obsolete super fast software wise. And basically, unsafe to connect to the internet in a few years.

Most TVs have CI+ ports. I can easily imagine an upgradable "smart module". Just buy a new compatible one (which, effectively could just connect for power and HDMI) and get the brand new stuff.

There is no bubble, smart TVs are a consumerist trap and it will require government intervention to fix because nobody has any incentives otherwise.

Like, apart from the whole Europe.

Well, it's hard to cite a page where somebody manually estimated some numbers from various sources without at least providing a table to see what the individual estimates were so at least some errors can be corrected.

A comment here. It seems to me insects are all over the place in abandoned land. But here we have most of the land alongside the road planted (and sprayed I guess). Which is to say, farmers are killing bugs near their plantation. So, no surprise there.

I re-read your post and while it's not overly aggressive it's the difference in tone and approach that get you. The original poster was like the hippie encouraging home-made yogurt and you were like the school principal saying 'this is bull, store yogurt has scientifically the same benefits'.

Gnome people basically looked as how Apple managed to be firm about design and though they can be even tougher since they do it for free.

This may have been a mistake. Apple will have a reason to revoke your certificate.

Well... if you keep it just for online banking it's perfectly safe and fast.

We still have an original iPad at an older relative. It's perfect for Solitaire.

It also used to be usable to load a weather page but turns out Safari doesn't know the certificate authority since it's such an old version. I guess such an old Safari is a walking security risk too.

That's not necessarily fine if the fee is in custom tokens. By burning they are just reducing supply, locking in the amount paid and increasing the value of their huge holding. It's pretty terrible.

Maybe renewal makes sense to prevent squatting but the question remains: who receives the money paid??

If the money were to be used to secure the network somehow, it would make sense.

Mafia is a parallel system with parallel jobs, off the books. It would be highly surprising if these 2.5M people didn't have a regular occupation they get paid with, except there's no legal paperwork.

I would like to see these. And how many people took the vaccine just to keep their job.

I know VSCodium isn't new but VSCode was released in 2015, so it took the community about 3 years to form.

So glad this exists. It took people quite some time to group up for this.

I find it... borderline immoral to have an open source product and then have binaries contain telemetry and other stuff that's not in the main tree.

But, hey, we couldn't expect Microsoft not to muddy the waters a bit.
