Yes, it happens all the time. Each time we get a new form we have to fill out to do something or some extra hoop to jump through. If the manager I worked for didn’t act like a normal person that thought that shit was stupid I would absolutely hate working with/for that liar/crazy person.

In a move to appease investors looking for never-ending growth, Netflix dug their grave. Netflix isn’t worth it for most people if they can’t share it. Get a job doing something else that involves coding. Do you know advanced math and physics? There are tons of opportunities in the applied sciences and you'd be a god-tier coder among men at federal research labs etc.

Yeah, I bought a $150 laptop from best buy with windows on it and the latest celeron and had to return it, it was literally unusable for anything, even emptying the recycle bin. I don't know how they get away with selling that stuff.

If you’re not just a code monkey than those chats are great for coming up with new ideas and fleshing them out over time. But hey you can also just be a code monkey that completes projects assigned to them. To each their own I guess.

You are completely detached from reality. Almost all of my conversations happen by running into someone in the hallway, or seeing them in their office with their door open and asking if they have a couple minutes.

The chilling effect it causes has already caused a ton of harm. For instance, I can never run for office because I don’t want the public to know what I said on Facebook when I was 16.

Basically everything I have said to anyone since I was a young child is sitting in their data center, ready to blackmail me if I ever tried to run for office or pursue any power.
