Mojeek feels like a 'classic' engine as they're 100% independent with their own crawler, index and algorithms. Results aren't biased by third party indices, search history or advertising interests. Kagi is another good alternative.
Google and others are racing to integrate AI but - for me - there are two hidden costs. 1. Access to the web becomes mediated and monetised even more. 2. Energy consumption up to 100x normal searches has an environmental impact.
