This whole thread seems ridiculous... where has hacker news drifted?

It’s pretty simple. If programmers are easier for companies to find then pay would drop. If restrictions are applied making programmers more difficult to find such as limiting entry into the field like limiting H1B visas or requiring programmers to jump through the hoops of becoming a “licensed” programmer then pay would go up or stay the same. Nobody really cares how much “effort” is required to do your job.

Hello, I am an experienced (5 years) full stack team lead looking for the next opportunity!

Currently my day to day includes coordinating directly with clients and prospective clients, database and system administration, devops, a lot of full stack development, coordinating with team members, and planing the development and architecture of upcoming projects.

I am used to working remote at least part time and honestly work better that way (far less distractions) but I do like coming into the office at least a few times a week.

In my spare time I work building projects to learn new technologies, exercise, building physical things, and high adventure "outdoorsy" things.

I'm a full stack web dev currently serving as a team lead for a healthcare software company. I have written, maintained, and deployed multiple applications.

I enjoy working with others and have plenty of experience working remote.

I have plenty of time behind me coordinating directly with clients but also enjoy working behind the scenes on the nitty gritty technical details.

I spend my spare time learning other technologies such as React and Django.

I'm very thorough and self critical. I like where I am but am just looking for the next opportunity.

Another vote for Planet Money as it has been my top podcast! I would note that the indicator is far inferior to Planet Money as it is more the politicaly charged flavor of the show.

Hello! I have built my own house from scratch. I worked with a couple of friends on the weekends for about 2 years building it. I put together a YouTube series documenting the whole process. I am not an expirenced builder, we just figured it all out as we went along. The house is about 1000 square feet with 18 foot ceilings in the living room. As mentioned by others in this thread keep the design simple such as a single roof line. Consider your HVAC need well ahead of time as this nearly bit me later.
