Amazing work! Where I lived in Australia tourists often would get lost and quickly dehydrate, be at risk of hypothermia overnight or immobilize themselves by breaking a leg. Phone coverage is not good in the country so you couldn't call for help. Depending on your location, vegetation is difficult to see through for search-and-rescue spotters in the air. Once you get off trail it's not as simple as backtracking and so have to wait for help to arrive (so long as you let someone know you were hiking ahead of time).

Agreed, most moocs follow a traditional method by recording lectures and posting them weekly. For a better way of learning check out udacity. Go at your own pace and is somewhat more interactive. Khan academy is also good for specific subjects.

Surveillance aside, You do realize computers can aggregate data? It doesn't take 4 million agents to look at 4 million citizens (or 2 million, or 1 million...). The data can sit there and be deciphered any number of ways.

The average person doesn't care about government snooping.

Last week New Zealand re-elected their head office just days after government spying came to light. The majority of voters don't care. To quote another reddit thread:

The big reveal was actually that New Zealand was conducting mass surveillance of its population when it's PM and gov't promised it wasn't.[1]

Last year New Zealand was voted 'freest country.'[2]

The governor general can fire the government.

Simply not having the American system doesn't default to 'fine.' Besides, Australian education is now well on its way to a similar system.

That could be changing after student fees get deregulated[1]. $50,000 for an arts degree and $100,000 for medicine. No doubt that price will go up.

Australia is actively being made dumber as we devolve in to a class system.
