I have definitely noticed improvements taking a larger dose with my energy when low on sleep, check out McMorris et al. (2006) which is not cited here. I agree it probably doesn't make you generally more 'smart' but it does may improve function under stress, e.g. when sleep deprived, also see Gordji-Nejad et al. (2024). I think the sleep benefits should at least be mentioned in this article.

Also search for 'sleep' in this comment section, seems many see similar improvements!

Does creatine make you stronger?

Yes. It’s very rare for a supplement to have such strong and consistent evidence.

A widely-cited review says that short-term supplementation increases maximal power/strength by 5-15%. This in turn may increase the long-term gainz from strength-training exercise. Creatine also increases sprint performance by 1-5%. Though, there seems to be little if any benefit for endurance exercise like long-distance running.

It is both less intelligent and more expensive than GLM-5.2, while being closed weight.

This is how you end up with paywalls and ads, calling people greedy for providing a way to donate is crazy. Does the same argument go for open source software / organizations funded by donations?

I will never understand why people post these clearly ai-generated articles under their personal name without at least disclosing they didn't write it. If you don't tell the agent otherwise, they have a very predictable markdown structure (these 5-6 word summary headers before every paragraph), a predictable length, and of course full of em dashes. Immediately removes credibility- no issues reading something that's ai-written but when you see these markers it just screams low effort. Like you're being duped, used some AI article to get traffic to their site and you fell for it.

A literal example is that I can use AI to file my taxes instead of spending a weekend and hundreds of dollars to have an accountant do it for me. It costs me like $5. that 245$ delta is the value of that output to me, as long as I am confident it is correct.

You are making the assumption that the models are only used / paid for by 2.5% of the population (your knowledge workers value). There will be new value created by these models which people are happy to pay for which simply did not exist at all before. It is also naive to say that the hyperscalers are going to be expecting a return on this in 5 years, it will be entirely propped up by investments / IPOs as has been the case with any tech company for decades now to reach scale. The hyperscalers are currently spending ~650b combined annually, which they have the cash for and can sell in future compute instantly.
